Good to see a bit of common sense being used. Are those of you sent home expected to pay back the hours?
Yes!!! They told us that they expect some”goodwill” over the coming days to make up for going home early today!!
No chance , their decision to send you home .

So.... we go over our time a lot during the year, especially at Xmas.....we have had double mail days going on for 7 months or so.....and they want goodwill tomorrow?....they take us for mugs. It's all take take take from them. The moment they are forced to give us something, they want something back.

I haven't had any goodwill from them for going past my contracted hours over many years, clearing at xmas, etc....

My own office didn't go out but my postie (different area) was sent out and told to "use common sense". Funny, but when we show common sense in deciding what amount of mail we think is possible to clear they don't like it. Bastards.

Arrived at 7am, told a short while later that deliveries were being suspended for today. Management asked that all jobs be fully prepped and we scan all our tracked parcels as 'delivery not attempted'.

They expect goodwill tomorrow, i.e. go past our time but not claim O/T.

Left office by 9am.

Today was specials and tracked packages only, for 1 hour weather window. No Mail or COllOD. Left office for home at 9.30. They, of course expect 5 hours clawback over coming days, despite sending us home. My delivery didn't go out yesterday, so currently have 2 days mail in frame, 3 counting tomorrow (red storm area) and 2 parcel bags.

Re: Clawback ….

If an employee cannot work safely on their normal duty, they should be asked to cover other work.

If an employee chooses to leave early and there is other work available, they should be asked to make up the time.

If there is no other work available or the office is closed due to worsening weather conditions, employees may be allowed to go home early and there will be no requirement to make up the time.

Employees unable to attend due to their normal workplace being closed and there is no alternative work will not be required to make up the time.

For further information see the ‘Getting help’ box on the front page of this guide.
Also refer to the Policy and Information Site on PSP for further guidance relating to this guide.

Hi Weary, this is obviously from an official RM policy document, are you able to provide the source/copy of original document/
screenshot?
