to be honest i cant see a problem with bringing this in and hopefully it will kick them in the arse in the end and stop all the free work and posties taking short cuts trying to get a flyer and it would support what the cwu have always said for years DO THE JOB PROPERLY . , and like it says its not being based on your wages ( for now anyway ) so what can they do ?

I guess any frequent early finishes won't affect someones pay - but more likely unofficially used to show that you CAN take those 100 new houses they have built nearby.

Scan In Scan Out still won't sort out fairness in offices in regards to O/T etc.As long as a verbal agreement is there someone could still do 4 hours o/t and do it in half an hour, regardless of scan in scan out.
There would still be no banking of hours etc just replaces physically signing in/out...for now of course.

PDA actuals could be used for that anyway....

What do you do with the PDAs if the DO is locked up when you arrive back and what do you do with the vans?

Signing out means you are finished working for the day - definitively.
PDA actuals only show that you are back at/near the office at a certain time.

At Bristol Mail centre sending an email if someone is late has already ceased. You can come in 15 minutes late with no worries. I know people who sign in and then watch tv for 10 minutes and then appear. It did however stop the same people coming in 1 or 2 hours late once a week, especially on a friday. Managers mates going home a couple of hours early for taxi double pay has also stopped. You can still go home for dinner for a couple of hours though if you live nearby.

Is this the end of van retentions? If so where will vans be left overnight if there isn't room now?
I suppose that depends what type of van retention it is - for instance one that drives straight home after last delivery.
Our office was closed and absorbed into a larger one but there was never room for us so we pouch off at local POs and our PDA, pouch, keys etc are picked up by evening collections. I thought this practice was unusual but I understand that at least two in Wales and another in the W Midlands do exactly the same.

And what will happen if people get back early I mean we are failing rounds most days yet full-timers regular leave one to two hours early, it really doesn’t make any sense at all can’t see this improving things by the looks of it let’s hope it does but I doubt it

Now our agreements with the unions don't allow us to link directly to pay. however, there is a robust hr process that already exists and is usable by managers to address late attendance and early clock counts. now the automation of signing in and out makes it easier to identify any issues.

Remind me exactly how managers are going to prevent early clock counts?? Are they going to keep the office locked to prevent posties getting in? Will there be an early shift manager telling posties that they are not allowed to work at this time? No, thought not....

May be wrong but i think it means clocking out before your duty time?

My bad, I might have read it wrong. Will managers lock the office to prevent the posties from leaving early and getting out? :chuckle

No just cut more hours until it's impossible to make time

If you mean finishing their shift early then the local managers and possibly the next one up from the DOM will be able to see that and then either they'll get given more work (permanently lapsing added most likely) or them hours will get cut from the office budget

For me its PDA logged out, battery left in. PDA then left in the rear of the van with 739 items. Van locked, van keys get posted in the post box outside the DO and I then send a text message to the manager. - Not had a problem with this so far, although one 739 did "temporarily go missing" a few weeks ago. But then found the following day. I was asked why I had not booked it back in? - err.... because it was Saturday and I wasnt back till gone 4 and I left in the van as agreed!
