Insane idea. Wait until it rains and your PDA wont respond in the wet. All this seems geared for the RM to adandon the USO. No way do we have the time to deliver letters and take a picture of every packet we deliver.

There are tons more smaller parcels that we deliver plus we also seem to be delivering the larger stuff as well

Delivering parcels in a van is fairly easy in the rain as you just keep a cloth in the van to wipe your PDA whenever gets wet.

LAT's are interesting as don't we presently offer to re-deliver them the following day, if we do and the customer's are out again they'll still have to be 739'd, so the customer will have to wait another day of their "urgent" parcel delivery.

The LATs that are undelivered get sent back to the local MC and then the local MC sends them out to the relevant DO as they become normal Tracked items

That's might point we firstly try and deliver them as LAT's, then the following day as Tracked, both deliveries will hit the same problem if the customer is out.

We P739 any local LATs so they dont go out the next day or back to the mail centre. If other offices send their boyz round to do LATs they use their P739s & take their parcels to their office. All other LATs get sent back to the Mail Centre for delivery the next day.

In terms of time, perhaps.

However, it's an extremely frustrating job, soul destroying almost, when you can't get anything delivered because everybody is at work, and you end up bringing most of it back.

I wish we were using technology to assist us getting stuff delivered, not using technology to make it more awkward. This does the latter, sure it'll prevent some denial of receipt complaints, but at the end of the day, you'd eliminate them all if everything was collected from the CSP.

How secure do we need to be, most items are of low value.

Personally i don't want to lower our standards to the other couriers and just dump everything on the doorstep. We get paid an hourly rate to deliver mail/parcels, we don't get paid by how much mail'parcels we deliver in that hour and long may that continue

I'm prepared to take a few sarky comments from customers if it keeps me in work

Ive now stopped doing safeplace in readyness for this coming in, even if the pda prompts me to 'leave under car' etc.
They all get 739'd (even the redeliverys if they aint in) and taken back to the locker room.

Very sad state of affairs when I was doing 99.5% delivered that day. God help us in pressure month.

You shouldn't have been leaving it under a car in the first place, if the"safeplace" isn't secure you don't leave it.

Even thought the PDA promts you too and RM have a record of the request?

Then that is their problem...it is our job to deliver the item by/on a certain date,their job to receive it
