New starter!
I start next week as a postie. After reading some of the comment in this forum, am not sure if am making a massive mistake by taking the job! Is there any positives at all? Also what should I expect for my first few weeks? I got told at the interview I’ll work with someone for the first 6 weeks, does this actually happen?

Re: New starter!
As with most jobs, there are good and bad offices so its always worth giving it a go. I moan on here just like others, but at 57 it's the best job I have ever had, it's not perfect, but it is a good job.Samjordan12 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2022, 19:40I start next week as a postie. As to will you be working with someone for 6 weeks. That all depends on the type of duty you are put on. On the delivery side, the vast majority of posties work in pairs, one as a driver, the other supporting them. You both move with the vehicle around the delivery area and use the van as a replenishment point. If you are on a singleton trolley delivery, you should be with someone for a few days to at least show you the ropes.
The 6 week bit you picked up on is the length of time new starters should be left on that delivery before being moved off of it. This is to give you time to bed in, however, if operational issues mean they need to move you, they may do so.

Re: New starter!
I am also considering joining RM, but am still going through recruitment stage atm. After working for Angard, and moving on to RM, what is the reality of the job?? What can I expect to earn per hour?? Its in Yorkshire, because I am unsure if area makes any difference to wages. Generally, how many hours per day do you work?? And roughly how many miles per day do you walk?? I would just like some advance warning to what I am committing myself to. Any advice would be much appreciated.
