Re: 700 jobs 2 go
If my sums are correct an annual saving of 4000000/700 =57000, is this how much Dom's are on, way overpaid and well overdue.

Re: 700 jobs 2 go
I assume that's the overall package including pension contributions etc, what's surprising is that it'll cost RM £70m to make them redundant which suggests they anticipate their severance pay with be £100K each on average, £30K of which will be tax free.

I think RM will be shocked when they see just how many of their managers want out. The are all applying for it at ours.

I know Simon likes to read our posts….
why bother spending on redundancy. Just fire them over discrepancies, fraudulent figures, underperformance, wilful delay, lost business contracts….they did it to loads of posties over the years for alot less. Most managers will collude with RM to screw other managers to save their own skins… win win; cheaper and efficiency gains.
….and yes I’ve got little sympathy after watching too many of these scumbags s**t on friends and colleagues for no real reason other than their sheer incompetence.

Confirmed the DOM role is gone in April across the entire business. For me, it's always been a pointless role regardless of the size of the unit. Offices run fine on Saturdays when they are off, their annual leave is covered by line managers doing their bits and bobs. 99% of their work could be done from a laptop anyway. Most of them have invented conduct cases plenty to keep them relevant and justify their existence. The area managers will be next. The firm are pissing money up the wall employing them.nutcracker wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 01:59I know Simon likes to read our posts….

Re: 700 jobs 2 go
As I understand it, the Delivery DOM role is going, not processing or collections. The affected have been told. Essentially the line managers will run the units.
Anyone else have more details or clarification?

Get the line managers on delivery as well, teamworking and getting sweaty will be such a shock to them. There will be some bickering between them about how to run an office, they will have to do a bit of thinking instead of previously being the DOM's mouthpiece.

I can foresee many an argument with our workplace coaches in charge, with their raison d'etre DOM gone they'll be rudderless and clueless about man management. I can't say the removal of DOM's is progress without a credible plan that gives hopebarrychuckle wrote: ↑26 Jan 2022, 10:31I should imagine workplace coaches will be required to fill the void.

There will be a new role that, crudely, equates to Line Manager. Any substantive manager may apply for this new Customer Operations Manager role should they wish to, and are guaranteed a role, though perhaps not in their current office. If not enough current Delivery Operations Managers and substantive Line Managers are appointed (because of those choosing redundancy or otherwise fleeing the sinking ship), then the roles will be generally advertised.

I can't understand where this workplace coaches will be running the teams rumours have come from as surely the office will be run by those appointed to the new line managers role, it could be workplace coaches may apply for such roles but no guarantee they will get them, unless recruitment is being solely restricted to internal employees.redneck wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 20:16I can foresee many an argument with our workplace coaches in charge, with their raison d'etre DOM gone they'll be rudderless and clueless about man management. It does seem there is no credible plan, as I can't personally see the present line managers I've come across have the ability to run entire offices/teams, rather than just organise the deliveries rounds and vehicle repairs etc.

Re: 700 jobs 2 go
Ours will just give their months notice on the role as soon as there is a sniff of having to work for the money.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
