You'd actually get the mail later as we don't have the staff to manually sort everything that would get run through an iLSM2yearpostie wrote: ↑28 Jan 2022, 06:55

Re: Overtime ban coming?
Yeah already planned to swallow a load of our mail.
At my place all Heavy and Large gone by end of the year (the union has told us) and rumours over tracked 48 smalls :(

Re: Overtime ban coming?
Our weekend dispatch times are now pushed back by 2 hours for most lorries - at the moment with mail being low we are getting the lorries away earlier but can't see that lasting.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:57The mail has to be on the lorries by the time of the final dispatch. With less staff, it's going to take longer to process, so to get it all processed, they're going to have to make the final dispatch times later. For DOs you'd effectively going to get a double whammy of the knock-on affects from mail arriving at inward MCs later as the final dispatches from the outward MCs would be later and then the final dispatches of the inward MCs being later, with the added bonus of the lorries arriving later into the inward MCs2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:19Why is everyone in the mc obsessed with pushing back the dispatch times and shafting us delivery guys?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:24My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. If they ever did that, it would have an inevitable affect on DOs as your start and finish times would be made later by the same amountchickenwittle wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:07Would this not be a good thing ? If it led to massive failures it would probably lead to more permanent jobs for our colleagues rather than relying on ot or agency staff to muddle through.![]()
Even our arrivals time from our own lorries has been pushed back to ensure bigger lorries can be used e.g. less drivers & lorries needed. Crap for the lates as it puts more pressure on the finals.
Night shift gets hammered as the inward arrivals is back-ended as well e.g. full lorries arriving past 4am :(

Re: Overtime ban coming?
Our night shift has been getting a bigger proportion of its work later. I'd just assumed it was roadworks holding up the lorries but now I think about it, it might be just we're getting more of it on the later runs. They can get away with it when it's quiet but once the mail picks up again we'll be failing mail every day, unless they make our final dispatches to the DOs later, probably by at least a hourpaulus103 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2022, 22:28Our weekend dispatch times are now pushed back by 2 hours for most lorries - at the moment with mail being low we are getting the lorries away earlier but can't see that lasting.

Re: Overtime ban coming?
If we walk sort wave 2 then we get it done quicker but you'll get more manual as the iLSMs will still be running plan 1 whilst the CSSs are running. One option might be the basic office breakdown plan (basically 1 output per DO), any firms stuff that would go in direct trays would just get sorted to the stacker covering the relevant DO.2yearpostie wrote: ↑31 Jan 2022, 14:36SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Jan 2022, 22:15You'd actually get the mail later as we don't have the staff to manually sort everything that would get run through an iLSM2yearpostie wrote: ↑28 Jan 2022, 06:55

If packets or Tracked are in the s**t then staff will get taken from the manual letters and flats sections first then if it got bad enough they might take them from the mech and send some mech as manual

There's a lot of "computer says no" attitude in mail centres, no wonder we always have to clear up their mistakes.

Re: Overtime ban coming?
A fair bit comes down to budget in MCs. Sometimes if a section if short on budget they'll turn away any staff that head over to their section as they've not got the hours to spend.claretandblue wrote: ↑01 Feb 2022, 06:32There's a lot of "computer says no" attitude in mail centres, no wonder we always have to clear up their mistakes.
All the mail has to be ready for the final dispatch and work areas cleared so that the next shift can see up the floor space for their own work areas
