It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
How do they define offices in trouble? I would have thought offices with walks regularly not being delivered would count as an office in trouble but I have never seen ours on any list.

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
Wimbledon: This office was on the list over Xmas, after the 29th it disappeared.
In the 'Daily Service Update' thread in the Customers forum, Wimbledon is only mentioned 4 times-22-23-24 and 29 Dec
On 13th Jan-Teebs posted this news story...
Wimbledon town hall leaders fume as residents hit by Royal Mail postal delays
Residents are missing out important medical and bank documents because they say there are delays in getting Royal Mail post delivered.
Some Merton residents have reportedly not received any mail for weeks at a time.
The leader of Merton Council, Councillor Mark Allison, said he has written to Royal Mail to address the issue “as a matter of urgency”.
Councillor Allison said: “Many residents have not been receiving any Royal Mail post for several weeks at a time, and it is now having a number of potentially serious impacts.
“The letters affected include important bank documents, medical letters and correspondence from key organisations such as Merton Council itself.”
Even MP for Wimbledon, Stephen Hammond, revealed he has not received any post for a week in a tweet on Monday (January 10). ect etc etc
Today, our Simon posted this on Workplace...
Team - on the 17th January we met with the local MP & residents of Wimbledon - they are very grumpy about our service - not a recent thing, their view is it has gone on for "years" - so tomorrow @ 8am I am meeting with our local leadership team (managers + unions) - to listen to what they will do differently to service our customers better - we will be presenting the plan to the residents and the local MP in the next ten days....
As the MP said "I will share this when published".....
Later on today-Simon said...
we have now looked at the office performance statistics - and all operational practices including fairness of workload + absence & recruitment - and relative performance versus all other offices nationally - in rank order - based on this, the team have opportunity to please the customers - let’s see where we land…..
Remember-Wimbledon came off the 'In trouble' list after 29 Dec.

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
Simon reviewed the process of determining which offices were impacted, and has discovered the metric by which the offices were measured was incorrect, resulting in many offices being included when they should have not.
Therefore, the list has been adjusted to include the new metrics of deflection of media attention and increased B*llsh*t levels.
As such, it was found that only 6 offices did not meet the desired levels and they will be singled out for additional treatment

Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

Precisely, Wimbledon DO can't be unique all somebody needs to do his work out how many posties are needed to deliver the mail/parcels and clear the backlog and then resource the DO according, if they can't work that out how are they ever going to run the new parcel hubs they are building!

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
SIMON SAYS:
Team! Big congratulations to our expert task force who have so effectively dealt with our Peak difficulties (which I must point out were nothing whatsoever to do with the revisions. Oh no. I mean, we have learned that a lot of the revision process could have been improved, but as I've pointed out, overall it was an astonishing piece of work that largely achieved its ambitious target - allowing me to keep my promise to the shareholders, even if I did have my fingers crossed a bit). But we now need to look at costs. And it's a fact that the 'sweeping under the carpet' strategy, although very successful, has also cost a lot - whether measured in rugs or depth of pile (you wouldn't believe the depth of pile you need to hide millions of undelivered door to doors, for example). Our fantastic new solution is do give all sector managers a bucket of sand, so they can bury their heads - and to keep the cost of sand and buckets under control, we'll get rid of all the DOMs who had such a negative attitude towards the implementation of our tremendously successful revision. thanks, Team. Rest assured, once we've rewarded all our delivery office managers appropriately - and you'll have heard how we intend to do that - I'll turn my focus on how best to reward the efforts of our posties! Look forward to seeing our new rewards packages for posties coming in the new financial year - I'm sure you won't believe what'll be on offer!

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
There are certain phrases, words out there that just make my blood boil. Going forward was one, everytime I heard it grrrrrr My new one is Team. I know nothing about Mr Simon whoever he is, where he has come from or what his intentions are. If he has a day off it does nothing to change my day. I wish him nothing but success for all our sakes. But, starting everything with Team, does he now realise, especially in delivery offices, it is everyman for himself. People in my office would stab you in the back to get done 5 minutes earlier, there is no sense of team. Everybody just comes in and wants to get the job done with the least amount of hoops to jump through. All we want is for there to be enough staff and everyone to be treated the same. We all know the managers have their little golden staff and they are usually the same ones that go sick every two minutes and let them down.

I love the way that Simon bandies the term "fair workloads" around almost as though he has a complete grasp of the concept.
