RMCtv : Purchase of Annual Leave 2022/23 - Window is now open

Post by POSTMAN »

HR

Purchase of Annual Leave 2022/23 - Window is now open

The window for requesting, changing or cancelling purchase of annual leave for the 2022-23 leave year is now open for all employees.

The window will close on the usual date of 28th February 2022. Please ensure all changes are saved by this date.

Managers selecting, changing or cancelling a Purchase option on behalf of an employee can do so through Manage My Team > My Team > Employee Information.

Employees with PSP access wanting to change their own Purchase option can do so by going to Me At Work and selecting ‘Purchase Additional Leave’ under the ‘Pay and Benefits’ heading.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

This was raised a few years ago at our AGM, it was hoped someone would challenge it on age grounds. RMs reason was that it would be a challenge to cover the extra leave periods .
But ask a manager and they will say the sick leave would drop as a. result

I was told by a rep that our office will not be allowing this due to too much outstanding leave that needs to be taken

Is it really within the power of the screws to deny purchase of annual leave just because they can't find enough slots for the leave people haven't taken yet? Doesn't sound right, sounds decidedly like sharp practice and needs kicking upstairs pronto and also asked about directly to Simpleton on Workspace so he knows what his TRUSTED managers are up to.

Put a grievance in asap! This entitlement is offered to Royal Mail employees, there are no stipulations which your Rep refers to

That's HR staff. Which seems unfair unless they need more holidays than the frontline grunts, due to papercuts and RSIs from drinking coffee.

Lol HR can get 7 weeks
Opg only 6 weeks and we're doing the most physical work and our body would benefit more from 7 weeks off MENTAL

I'm confused - if you currently get the equivalent of 4 weeks, does that mean you can buy another 2, or 6?

The form states you can purchase up to a maximum 6 weeks. So standard on entry 4 and a half weeks (22.5 days)
You can then purchase 1 and a half weeks (7.5 days) if you want 6 weeks.
Or option 1 - purchase 2.5 days if you want 5 weeks.

Employees may purchase additional holiday up to the maximum of 6 weeks per holiday year (including their existing normal entitlement). The employee’s holiday purchase arrangement will continue until they obtain 6 weeks holiday through length of service, or until they change grade.
Each complete week of holiday purchased will result in a 2% adjustment of weekly basic pensionable pay (including London basic pay additions, and consolidated RRIS and ICS payments).

The table below shows service-related holiday entitlements and the percentage adjustment to basic pay required to purchase the additional holiday. The percentage adjustment to pay will be based upon the employee’s actual basic pay rate throughout the holiday year.
Length of Service
Percentage adjustment
Standard on entry: 4 and a half weeks contractual holiday
Option 1: 5 weeks holiday 1%
Option 2: 6 weeks holiday 3%

How're we to do this when we don't even know if / when the "new" shift patterns are coming in? there was some poll about having 4 day weekends or something so half of my office didn't have a clue what to book holiday when they had to. Book it for x and the entire shift pattern changes and what then? Everyone rebooks? Some of us are screwed? We were told it was coming in, but it hasn't happened yet. (If it did, the longer days would actually make the revision.... more workable)

Personally I just had to ignore the form. Can't plan it when I don't know when I will be working.
