Wish it were posties, I'd be first in the queue. Instead of being payed off they should be re deployed as posties being as we're short of them. Maybe create a hybrid role where they are linos for first 2 hrs then take out a delivery and get paid somewhere between postie and lino wages. Saving money and filling vacancies.

Wake me up when it's all over. ZZZZZzzzzz ! TBH You could probably remove every DOM in this Business and it wouldn't make that much of an impact .... we'd still manage to get the mail out. We've proved it when we haven't had a manager in the past. :dance

And if RM want to start talking about introducing "Team Leaders" (so they can get the same jod done for half the wage) they can Feck Right Off. Although you know all those mugs that fell for the DOM Support Role will be itching to have a go at it. :cuppa

I don't advocate any job losses within us regular employees or lower level management, but there is need for a clear out,
I know of several regulars who simply do as little as possible and desperate for the nod and know of several doms & linos who are basically a waste of space, the only solution is a costly one in evr's
Basically the long term job is fecked for anyone joining now, it's not a mortgage guarantee nowadays,
Being a long term-ish postie and i'm not bothered anymore, too much greed & ignorance
I'm waiting on TP's next war cry, but i'm afraid i won't be following him
I know we can't lay the entire blame at cwu towers, but they have been told time & time again by its members something is drastically and catastrophically wrong within RM but have quite willingly said we the members on the whole were wrong

Do all managers in deliveries really need to be full time anyway? Once everyone's out on delivery there can only be a couple of non managers in the office (probably the SD locker and the callers). Just one manager would be needed once everyone has gone out on delivery to deal with whatever paperwork has to be done

Not that I'm a great champion of managers, but there is probably enough "Office Work" to occupy a Manager for eight hour a day. If they actually did everything they were meant to do to keep all the reports, resourcing planning, recruiting, pay, leave, H&S checks, veh checks, security checks, WTLL sessions, Huddles, Interviews, Investigating Customer Complaints, visiting customers with No Delivery points, investigating dangerous dogs, updating printing and replacing the IPS walk guides .... etc etc. :hmmmm

I believe the problem lies with there being too many Lazy Managers who, just like some Posties, "Carve up their Duty" so that they can disappear as early as possible. :no no

You realise how Lazy some DOMs are when they turn up with a sheaf of handouts at your frame and say, "We're meant to have a briefing about this, that and the other, and I've got to check ID Cards & Drivers Licences. But IF you can just sign these half a dozen sheets it'll save us all having to waste time" :no no I suppose we could insist on him briefing us on all these things but you just sit there listening to someone (with the reading age of a 10 year old) droning on in a monotonous drone. :speak to the hand

I think there's an argument for One Manager to perhaps oversee two, or three, smaller DOs. Remember though SP this resuffle is going to have nothing to do with common sense, of effciency, it's just about saving MONEY! :cuppa

Don't be fooled. Higher ups want to create the divide between posties and managers. I think its absolutely disgusting what they are doing. I know lots of brilliant managers that go out of their way for their staff. Why should they be punished because royal mail want someone to blame for their own failures, just giving away company money to shareholders when apparently we should be saving money? Doesn't make sense eh? This company is being run into the ground.

Thats a team leader or working supervisor in any other industry. Definately works for them....

700 managers jobs to go and there is talk of smaller managed teams.
At a guess, Its looking like we are going to be micro managed by a Royal Mail Academy Graduate$ ?
It’s a bit of a kick in the teeth but I suppose after the last 18 months there will be a queues waiting to leave on redundancy.

I wonder how much the senior manager re shuffle has cost RMG in pay offs?

I should imagine workplace coaches will be required to fill the void.

Given the bumping exercises that RM always use prior to redundancies there almost certainly won't be any "voids" noticeable in the day-to-day operations.

Also you do realise that, you know, there has to be peeps to deliver stuff, don't over panic cause they are getting rid of wasters.
And in no way will RM bring in a massive pay cut to the front line.

Employing managers from within in DO's has rarely worked for RM.

Currently got one at ours who is on the whole decent but maybe that's down to knowing the lads and how bad the job is now on the shop floor.

I heard that all managers across the company have to reapply for their jobs. I don’t know if that included in the 700 jobs. If not there’s going to be a lot of former posties back on walks.
