New Senior Appointments

Team,I am very pleased to announce two Executive Board appointments, and two further senior hires.

We will be welcoming a new COO and new CFO to the Executive Board in early March.

· Chief Operating Officer – Grant McPherson
· Chief Financial Officer – Angela Noon

Chief Operating Officer – Grant McPherson

Grant McPherson will be joining us from 1 March 2022 as Chief Operating Officer.
Grant joins us from Jaguar Land Rover where he was Executive Director of Global Manufacturing.

In this role he oversaw manufacturing operations spanning the UK, China, India, Brazil and Slovakia, and impressively reduced their car work-in-progress time from two weeks down to just three days.
An engineer by background, he also spent twenty years of his career at Honda and was on the Board of Directors for Honda UK Manufacturing. For those of you who know my career history – no, we didn’t actually work together at Honda, but I know Grant had a great reputation in the company.

Chief Financial Officer – Angela Noon

Angela Noon will be joining us as Chief Financial Officer from 7 March 2022.
Angela joins us from Siemens UK & Ireland where she was the CFO and Executive Director of Siemens plc and Siemens Holdings Group companies.

During more than twenty years with Siemens, Angela held senior management positions in the UK and overseas including Global Vice President and CFO for Siemens’ Digital Enterprise business.
Angela also has a real passion for making business better and growing the skills we need to support UK Plc. She is currently Chair of the CBI Economic Growth Board, as well as Chair of the UK Skills and Productivity Board, an expert committee providing independent advice to ministers. I know she will bring some great new perspectives and experience to Royal Mail.

Liz Law

After nearly 17 years at Royal Mail, Liz will be stepping down from her role as Chief Financial Officer.
Liz joined in 2005, and during this time has undertaken a number of roles in the finance function and operations. During my time as CEO I have seen first-hand Liz’s commitment to Royal Mail.
Although Liz’s last day will be 28 February, she will be taking some well-deserved time off from next week, so I have asked Sarah Mussenden, Cost Transformation Director, to oversee the finance function until Angela arrives.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Liz for her great contribution to Royal Mail.

Chief Information Officer - Debra Bailey

Debra Bailey will join as Chief Information Officer (CIO) from 1 March 2022.
Debra joins us from O2 (Telefonica UK) where she was CIO and delivered an IT strategy that enabled the organisation to implement their new Business Strategy. She has held CIO and other senior positions at Nationwide Building Society, BT and Barclays, and is also a Non-Executive Director at the NHS Business Services Authority.
The Technology function will continue to report to the Chief Operating Officer given the fundamental role that technology is playing in enabling our transformation.

Fleet Director – Rob Fowler

Rob Fowler will join as Fleet Director from 1 March 2022.
Rob is currently consulting on logistics and vehicle electrification, bringing to bear his extensive experience as the former CEO of Volta Trucks and General Manager at DPD.
At DPD he spearheaded their vehicle electrification programme, and when you speak to him his passion for the environment and sustainability is clear. I know that with Rob on board we will have a fleet that is fit for the future and helps us retain our position as the delivery company with the lowest CO2e per parcel of any of our competitors.

I look forward to welcoming Grant, Angela, Debra and Rob very soon.

4 Salaries ?? Rough Estimate £1.1 million erring on the low side re the figure
Will they make any significant changes to day to day running of the Company ????
3 who left pay offs of approx 3/4s of a million probably more than that re shares/pensions etc
Trust Mr Thompson not going to plead poverty re our 2022 pay rise SURELY ???
Foot soldiers beginning to drift away-find other jobs less aggrovation/similar pay/less fatigue, risk of illness/injury
Share price nose-diving
National Press like a dog with a bone, re our performance at present in certain areas
Our Pay going down 1st April re National Insurance Hike
Cost Of Living going way up re prices/council tax/utility bills
Stormy 2022 !!!!!! and no mention of Covid !!

I absolutely detest the direction this once great institution continues to go in.
It's like a mirror image of the Tories ,
Cronyism at its worst,
Jobs for the boys/girls with astronomical salaries and not a hope in hell that anything will improve the lot of the ordinary workers who continue to toil with unrealistic workloads on a daily basis.
Unfortunately most of us need to pay the bills so we just suck it up and accept it for what it is.
Still pay my Union dues but only for self preservation in case something goes awry.
The days of expecting the CWU to stand up to the charlatans are long gone, they are actually in my opinion complicit in the new norm, spineless and self motivated to maintain the status quo which will elongate their impotent existence.
It's a job that I used to love doing and was proud to do, now it's simply a means to an end and it pains me to describe it in that way.

Start of re organisation? Heard recently they are considering the role of other manager grades in D O offices.

Simon needed to say something as the share price was in freefall.
So the unexpected update assured everyone parcel traffic was still above pre pandemic levels and more savings were on their way.
Clearly he couldn't say OPG roles were on the line because everyone knows we can't cope with the numbers we currently have.
Didn't we have a huge management cull announcement about 12 months ago. What happened?
