Would say 25% people in our office make no effort ever to do d2d. Manager well aware those who don't but nothing ever gets said.
Used to be common place that the day off cover would do an agreed amount on duty holders day off but with rarely happens now. Rounds in our office have d2d from as far back as October. 20 plus boxes tucked under frame.
We have numerous people in our office who seem to think that they don't have to do d2d. These same people will even not take the d2d out of the frame even if there going to the address with post!.... Of course the only reason the d2d have been thrown off is because the manager has got someone to do their work as there too lazy/work shy/entitled to do it themselves. Comes down to weak management as per usual..

Most of our duties seem to be clearing their Housholds, with the majority throwing them off after Delivery on Saturday, or first thing Monday.

The main problem seems to be the duties where someone's sick, holiday or day off. Athough the Mail is getting thrown off (even if the duty doesn't go out) no-ones prepping the Households. This also goes for the PT Duties prepped by FTers. The Households are the first thing that gets pushed to one side when we start struggling.

I suppose it's fairly obvious that if there's mail not being delivered people can't really see the relevance of worrying about the Households. :hmmmm

It doesn't help when we seem to be getting a lot more Late Arrivals of some contracts. You throw off three contracts and then several days later another one turns up. Of course then RM want them delivered by the end of the week! :cuppa
Why on Earth, would you go back to work, on a Saturday and throw your D2D's off? Crazy!
The only reason would be if you've got time within your contracted hours, but then some might argue it's taking
off work from the next week suggesting you can 'do more' delivery/lapse etc in that next week.

Our office is quite militant, not sure of the consequences if any of our posties where found doing the above?

You've hit the nail on the head YB. :thumbup I know there's some weird, and wonderful, practices across the Business where some OPGs finish "Out on the Street", but we all clock off in the office.

IF you get back before your Official Finish Time then you've got time to throw off some households. Some people stay on for a bit to prep them, but our DOs good in that the Manager does pay you to prep them. Otherwise he's only going to have to pay you the next week. :hmmmm

Our Reps been fairly successful in stopping people doing them in their own time :no no ... which used to happen ... with all the usual stupid reasons given. :arrrghhh We treat Households as Live Mail and worse case scenario they'll only be a week late. How the Hell do you get away with NOT delivering households for months? :cuppa

Wasn't there a 'covid policy' of all D2D's had to be laid-in on a Monday?

Did I dream it?

I have nine, loose, for next week.

I seem to recall dreaming that any amount over 7 were supposed to be given to us in a handy packet, something about agreements....something....something.

The old grasp on reality has obviously slipped somewhat.

That'll be a Monday morning walk-fail before the weeks even begun.

Luckily I have an agreement to no longer give a ****.

Possibly (there was definitely a policy for warm calling only with D2D), but IIRC the 'all in on Monday' was
also part of the revision joke and maybe it's intentional (or coincidence) that we don't get many catalogues
etc. on a Monday now to compensate, in fact Tuesdays are the day they tend to come through now.

DSA doesn't get processed at weekends anymore, that's why it's now busier in DOs on Tuesdays

Not that difficult to find which walk hasn't thrown them off then? Although nowadays I suppose it'd be a bit more difficult to discover who was "meant" to be prepping and delivering them, due to most of us being messed about and swapping duties, taking part walks, just covering tracked, trying to catch up on two/three/four days mail. Although still not beyond the capabilities of a Revenue Protection Team.

I remember when they used to mark up D2Ds with an ultra-violet pen if they suspected they were being binned. Then they could track bundles of binned D2Ds (often found in nearby wheely bins :whistle ) and discipline the culprit. :no no

It's been years since I can remember anyone getting a slapped wrist over Households. Provided they've got the MONEY I don't think RM give a shite in the present clusterfuck! :cuppa

Trying to get prepped this morning, and along come boxes of D2Ds. I think it ended up being 6 different bits of crappy paper. Not only did it take up valuable space when we`re trying to get out, but it`s a real psychological blow knowing that you face a crappy week ahead. Good work DOM. Then he wanted us to take out some absorption on the other side of town. Fat chance.
Single slots with 2 addresses can barely take the bumf as it is, without this level of green bin fodder. It always seems to be the same companies, Dominos/SpecSavers/Harvey`s Blinds every month. We don`t have the room for it, NOBODY WANTS IT!! Returned to find a few poor souls silently bundling together their D2Ds for Monday, already psychologically broken. Don`t forget the hundreds of lateral flow tests we have to cart around as well. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Less work is less jobs.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I agree. Households are just a state of mind. If you take the view "Royal Mail work in Royal Mail Time" it should help to change your attitude to them. :hmmmm Under no circumstances should you feel pressured into prepping them in your own time. :no no If you want to throw some off on a Sat when you get back back book them as Pressure. If the DOM wants them all thrown of on Mon, telll him you'll have less time to deliver other mail. Whatever you do make sure you get paid for them. :thumbup

If your Frame's double slotted see if you can't get another section added to make some more space. We're lucky that we've got the room and were able to do this to several duties, after the Revision added more Delivery Points. :d'oh! Lazy Management just telling Posties to double slot duties FFS. :arrrghhh

Admitedly with the chaos over Christmas Housholds have been pushed to the side and ignored by some. DOM & Rep have now said we've got to look at the indoor prep and make sure PT duties are having their Households prepped. When they arrive they've obviously got a frame FULL of mail. :cuppa

In our office since the revision there is no time to prep the junk unless the 'proper' mail takes a hit.

The strange thing is come end of the week the boxes of d2d just vanish from our frames like a magic trick!
