where do they get these actors from? boasting how good flexibility is and how great the job is. these are the same morons i see on our pointless plasma tv in the morning at work.

either they are actors or they really are insane, or more likely, are wild crabs.

Wish they were actors, one of those people in that leaflet covers the meal relief on one of my duties, when they are not at work other arrangements arn't made to cover them and we have to argue with a manager to get the meal relief covered. Flexibility works my A@@e

Course it works - it works for them otherwise there would be no need to publicise how advantageous it is to have someone do your duty for nothing whilst you go for a hospital appointment, so that when they want a weeks holiday you do their job for nothing - yep it's a wonderful life in flexibility land - wonder if they'll be flexible enough to kiss my backside?

Im confused.

I thought flexibilty was only implemeted through the summer months, through certain weeks. If its being implemeted now then thats not right is it? Or did I not read the small print or was I lied to by my DOM. I voted No by the way, before anyone accuses me of moaning too late.

Yes you are indeed confused - you are referring to "summer saving" whereby 5 people cover 6 duties for the summer period because there is no mail - yet another wonder plan - and the CWU bods think it is OK.

5 into 6 is not agreed as such; just summer staffing. It should give some room for manoeuvre. Keep your copy of the 'pay and modernisation deal' handy at all times!

Flexibility does work, you work your day off to help out then you give them 3 weeks notice of when you want your day off, the day before they hand you a letter saying you cant get off, see your still working cant get more flexible than that

insist on implementing flexibility. They still think they will be finishing early.
We had a vote on whether to revert back to a 5 o'clock start on saturday.
Fair enough it was decided by a democratic vote (should i explain to all the union
members who scabbed what that means)? to stay as we are, afterwards
i asked one of the voters why he wanted to remain at 6.15,and he said what difference
does it make we will still be home early on a saturday. He had no comprehension
of the ramifications of the new deal.
There are going to be some very sad faces appearing very soon.

You fully understand this yourself but like you say some think job and finnish still remains but they are sadley mistaken! FOR JOB AND FINNISH HAS GONE AND IS NO MORE!.DO YOUR JOB'S PROPERLY!.

Flexibility works or does it is the headline in propaganda magazine that royalmail puts out and inside this january 2008 edition is a supplement giveing exampels of how it works in different offices up and down the land. And they all seam happy about it but you have to ask yourselfs will i be the one who always gets the sh*t end of the stick. And where did my two hours go that i was promised and when can i have that week off and do i have to work 11 hour shift at short notice. IF THIS GETS IN IT WILL BE THE END OF US ALL WE MUST RESIST THIS AT ALL COSTS!.

The best headline in that comic was the picture of the "recently closed " DC , which in reality had been mothballed and still had 50 Drivers working out of it . We're waiting for the end of TPO's headline .

You don't have to be "flexible" - the union has said that this is not compulsory. Simlply work your hours and go home if you don't want to work overtime.

Plus the flexibility has to be done indoors (delivery staff) and not on the walk as this would go over the agreed 3.5hrs delivery span.

Flexibility has been drafted up because of the poor way RM managers manage and pay their staff - a 20hr contract is no good to anyone.

If RM have the money to spend on people entering the job for a couple of weeks then leaving and show no sign on improving this then in my book they don't need to save anything.

had our 1st back to normal hours (early saturday)
1st van in 5:40 10 mins later than agreed............
2nd van same time as rest of week 7:40 sat around waiting for it to arrive
10 extra sopposed to be working in swansea to get mail to us earlier on sats
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP
if the 2nd van we get is still sticking to the times of mon-friday.
i peronally preferr the later start on sat as can go out friday night.
but its the principle..........its in the wage deal and the only thing that benifits staff.
with a lot wanting to watch sport and loads playing...

I didnt realise that mate.I thought part of the masterplan was for walking postman to cover short term SL,by splitting up the sick persons duty between say 6 people, starburst style. As all our walks are 3.5 hours, if you are right, we wont be able to do that

They did state 6 into 5 on rurals don't know how they are gonna make it all fair .....don't think they know either! Trouble is their minds are set in the future and the workload is NOW!
