To raise a disagreement, management will have to impose a policy that is contrary to a national agreement.
Considering the Agenda For Growth with efficiency measures as a term of references will take precedence with all previous collectively bargained agreements,
Exactly what national agreement and what part of that agreement has been breeched?

Re: Managers prepping frames
I agree with what your saying, but during this current staff crisis are you saying that you've got Posties crying out to work more overtime?Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 22:07You rep should be raising this at the resourcing meetings, if it’s been raised and is still happening it should be passed further up and a disagreement lodged. As you have said they are taking overtime opportunities away from opg’s. Managers shouldn’t have time to do it anyway if they are doing their job![]()
Admitedly Managers should prioritise the Admin work that they're "meant" to be doing. I've spoken to our Rep about recording the ammount of OPG work that our DOM does, and he does record it, but I've no idea where he's meant to report it to.

Re: Managers prepping frames
This is exactly my point with business needs.
Most units have been fully optimised, so any sickness will have a detrimental effect on efficiency.
Covid has hit Royal Mail hard. Managers doing OPG work will be seen as reasonable and proportionate under current circumstances trying to maintain the USO in delivery offices. Mail Centre will simply utilise Angard.

Re: Managers prepping frames
Valid points and tbh post revision not many at my office will do overtime, even the docket kings have given up and are working their time. They should still however be recruiting rather than letting managers do the work if it’s there and there’s nobody who wants it.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 08:44I agree with what your saying, but during this current staff crisis are you saying that you've got Posties crying out to work more overtime?Perhaps when we were working Pre-Covid, but nowadays any work that our Manager is doing is just work that would be left in the frame, or on the floor in trays.

Re: Managers prepping frames
Some interesting points raised to be fair. I understand they are employed by the same people that we are and covid sickness has made resourcing impossible. Although manager prepping frames has happened for years at my office. Granted it's worse now though. Still seems saving money takes priority to resourcing properly and its failing the customer to maximise profit in my opinion, and its detrimental to the OPGs earning potential. So it is an issue that cant be just brushed away as efficiency resourcing in my opinion.
It's not really our problem what sort of pressure they get from above to be honest. They do get paid more than us ultimately. Our interests are of those in the membership and making sure the members are protected and represented full heartedly. They throw the book at people who fail tracked/covid kits at my office now because of the trouble they get in. Even when the work load is unmanageable and sometimes it's impossible to time manage your cut off times for the premium products.

Re: Managers prepping frames
According to a joint statement from RM &CWU, that we recently received, we're not meant to be treating those Tracked items as "The Holy Grail" of mail. Everything's meant to be treated with equal priority!Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑03 Jan 2022, 08:37.They throw the book at people who fail tracked/covid kits at my office now because of the trouble they get in. It must have come as a big shock to Terry & Simon to discover that Managers had been cooking the books to appear as if their DOs were actually clearing, when in fact they've just been concentrating on Tracked & Specials. SURPRISE!
So in answer to your time management problem; It shouldn't cause us any more of a problem to return Tracked Items to the DO than any other parcel (especially with the ridiculous number of these Bloody Test Kits).

Re: Managers prepping frames
I don't know if this was heresay or from back in the day, but I was told of one office where if the manager took to doing any OPG work all the posties would immediately stop what they were doing until the manager stopped.
Not sure if we would get away with that today.

Re: Managers prepping frames
Surprised that apart from the DOMs RM aren't sending all managers in deliveries out to do walks

Re: Managers prepping frames
At my original office when I started at a decade or so ago my union rep would stop them touching any of our work and they listened straight away..
Like many have said it's a different ball game now. So many off with covid at my DO think there was more managers on frames than posties today.
