PostCON BO*****S PT1

Post by POSTMAN »

Second anniversary of the liberalisation of the UK postal market.

PostCON, the independent postal services regulator, has found competition in its second year is starting to benefit more and more mail users, but has urged all operators to rise to the challenges posed by the digital age.

Research commissioned by Postcomm in 2007 found the benefits that large mailers have been experiencing since the market was opened have now started to slowly spread to smaller businesses. However, much more progress is needed and the challenge posed by the growing number of alternatives to mail confirms the need for mail operators to continue to pursue greater innovation.

The market research, which formed part of Postcomm’s annual Business Customer Survey, revealed that although Royal Mail remains the dominant operator, one in five small and medium mailers and more than a third of large mailers are using more than one mail provider.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Maybe what I want to know is in another PostCon survey, even one that has yet to be made public, but the question I want to know is what does the customer behind the door ( the 350 odd I deliver to every day ), what benefit has liberalisation brought them? :hmmmm
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

In Al's world these are not his customers, only recipients of his customers products. The market liberalisation has made things cheaper for HIS customers but much more inconvenient and unreliable for recipients. The customer needs to be redefined by the watchdogs and Royal Mail and the leeches that feed off it's delivery network reminded that service is important. There is really nowhere else for the public to go at the moment and the internet takeover of business communication is still untrusted and unreliable in many respects so we have a moral responsibility to provide nothing less than an excellent service whilst we have a relative monopoly.

You can have it good or you can have it cheap - you cannot have it both.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

What a surprise! Postcom which has pushed remorsely for liberalisation comes up with a survey that says liberalisation is good.
The operation was a complete success unfortunately the patient died.
Let's have a survey on whether Postcom is a success and value for the 10 million pound a year it costs to run. Is there a watchdog overseeing the watchdogs? :confused

That where I'm going wrong - my customers are all the lovely people that until just recently, were wishing me Merry Christmas / Happy New Year, and proffering me with cards, gifts or cash - the cat funt's customers are faceless corporations that couldn't give a toss for anyone outside the boardroom.....I think I might have to find a way to rephrase my original question - I'm going outside, I maybe some time :whistle
