I think it's not just Terry but the office reps too .... absolutely deluded.

To have someone with a grasp of reality would be a start.

Terry Pullinger time and again on so many issues has massively failed his members - either it is sheer incompetence or corruption or both.
The man is all talk talk talk and that is it...loves the sound of his own voice
The rest of the CWU bosses can get lost too...they are all at it.
He and the rest have been a complete disgrace over many issues for years now
They know all the problems we face and they ignore it as they would actually have to be seen doing something about it.
I do not trust a word he or the rest say

Just look at some of the agreements ……hourly rate overtime , pension changes for current members , longer walks etc , and we give him £3 a week to be crapped on
What you have to remember is that every time a negotiation is taking place, for every bit the CWU want out of the company, the company want the same bit back out of the workforce. In the end you actually get NOTHING extra long term, it is just the way it is sold to you, and every time the workforce fall for it by voting new deals in.

That's why when something new is given to you, a little bit of something you already have is reduced or removed. Just think, in return for a slightly higher basic wage and a couple of other small perks...job and finish became work your paid hours, overtime rates reduced, S/A rates reduced, new and decent vans became old and battered, door to door payments removed, Saturday Premium removed, NDA for 5am start posties removed, £6 van driving allowance removed, PHG positions and the extra pay that went with them removed, ghost overtime is being worked on, PDA's and trimble watching your every move hence less time to kill, clocking in and out is coming in everywhere, full time becoming part time wherever possible and the pro rata savings for the company that come with that, walks bigger than they have ever been with the new revisions meaning less walks thus less bodies/cost required, look at what your pension was 20 years ago to what is is now, delivering 3 days mail saves 2 days wages (o/t), the list goes on. As time goes on, more and more of your benefits will be eroded away, no doubt about that. It is a completely different company now - a business - and shareholders and profit will always be above posties!

So in short, whether it's Pullinger or anyone else CWU in the negotiating room, it won't make much difference to your pay or conditions now, the "good old days" are gone for good!

Leeds CWU branch have a live q&a session tomorrow (Monday) 5pm on their YouTube channel, Terry is their special guest so maybe if anyone has any specific questions they'd like to ask here's your chance.

https://youtu.be/9eRChiT79LA
whats the point it will be the same scripted answers he always gives , how hard we have worked pandemic , covid sickness , and we will sort it , etc etc :arrrghhh , pop down to our orrifice on christmas eve and see how much stuff wont be getting delivered :thumbup , thats cracking customer service that is , oh and its not down to covid either and its down to vacancies not being filled all year and posties on sick with stress down to these revisions :thumbdown
That’s why it’s essential to ask questions he can’t give scripted answers to. Mine would be…

Where have you been the last 6 months? When the abject failure of the business to deal with the endemic bullying and pitiful structural revision has led to the most badly planned xmas ever.

Why have you and your union/management chums actively refused to respond to colleagues/members concerns?

Is this the worst agreement in the history of agreements, is it legally binding like your other best agreement in the history of agreements? Is there scope to rip it up and start again to save the company.

The biggest issue I see within Royal Mail at the moment, is the refusal to work within the terms of the USO.

Letters and non-tracked packets aren't being delivered daily. Allowing letters to build up for days on end is common practice now.

Vacancies are deliberately not being filled.

Yet I've heard Terry utter the words, "protecting the USO protects jobs", sure, but only if it's being adhered to, eh Terry?

The CWU has failed on multiple occasions in recent years.

The union executive opted for a pain free private vasectomy years ago.

All expenses paid.
They get to keep their job, ( which is now to keep us quiet.) All their perks.

No wonder Terry thinks it's great

Could not have said that any better myself. Been with RM 25yrs, every year the work gets harder while the benefits (listed above) get chipped away. Since RM was privatised, the decline has accelerated at a faster pace. As simple Simon has said, as long as the shareholder's get their money, that is all that counts. I don't think Tel has helped things one bit by climbing in the management's back pocket.

in no way should these personalities have any abuse aimed at them, period.
I hate to say it, but 214 votes wanting a resign is more abusive than a few swear words.

Since i've been here the CWU have provided nothing. The small increases and back pay have been completely eroded by CWU fees, and the holiday backpay is garbage due to it being law and not actually something the CWU have "won" for me, but yet the deal was garbage anyway.

Personally i dont care much about the pay, any increases will be eroded by inflation, especially at the moment!
It's the awful conditions we have to put up which is what gets me.

Tesco and ASDA have both threatened strikes this xmas, why the CWU bent over for RM i don't know. Or rather i do, back handers.

Terry and Dave, you can both do one as far as i'm concerned.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Terry Pullinger, deputy general secretary (postal) of the Communication Workers Union, said only a minority of offices had experienced backlogs, but more resources were required in those areas.
