your safety is number 1, I would sooner send a non compliant photo and argue the toss with management than get savaged by a dog.

What if the address I am delivering to has oneHairyHobbit wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 12:11Serious question now: what if I hand it to a customer who comes out of a side door over a low garden fence to keep a dog in? I can't physically access their door.
of these items but the address has a known
dangerous dog - I usually have to leave the
parcel at the front door and retreat out of the
garden to shut the gate before they open the
door - how will I get a photo
Never accept a customer’s assurance that the dog won’t bite.
• Rattle the gate to warn a potential dog of your presence.
• Ring the doorbell, step back and wait until the customer opens the door and request
for the dog to be closed inside
• Ask the customer to secure their dog before they open the door.
• Step well back from the doorstep to maintain a safe distance. Beware of customers
opening the door when you return to retrieve any parcels that have not been collected.
• If the customer leaves the doorstep to retrieve ID, close
Tell them to put the dog in another room or else you will have to take the parcel back and leave a 739.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: RMCtv : Photo Capture on Delivery
Simple really, if you can't take a clear photo of the parcel on her door step, give her a 739 card, if she want's to complain then let the DOM deal with her complaint (I wonder if Boohoo etc forewarn their customers they use delivery services which will require a photo on delivery?)HairyHobbit wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 12:11Serious question now: what if I hand it to a customer who comes out of a side door over a low garden fence to keep a dog in? I can't understand some of the photos shown on Workspace, surely most of us wouldn't hit "confirm" when we'd taken similar photos, when we know they'll be sent to customer.

Senior (Banging my head) Deployment (against a fecking brick wall) Lead
Capture Photo on Delivery
Thursday 16th December, 99.30% of the time a photo was taken, Well done.
We really need the quality of photographs to improve. We sampled 1315 photos from Thursday, of which 511 were Non–compliant which is 39% of the overall sample
That is just 61% of the sampling being compliant

Had one the other day
The guy came from round the back because the front door was locked and he couldn't find the key so I went round to the back door to take a snap of the parcel with his back door open.
Regarding the photo capture at the door only. What if the customer wants to collect the parcel at the depot?

Had exactly this happen today, explained to the chap (who I have known for 12 years) the new system. Was told to go and tell them to f*** themselves. Will pass the message on in the morning.HairyHobbit wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 12:11Serious question now: what if I hand it to a customer who comes out of a side door over a low garden fence to keep a dog in? But they'll be proof of delivery scan ie the Enquiry Office - Customer Collected scan. Also, without openingpostslippete wrote: ↑17 Dec 2021, 21:15Had one the other day

the 'what's a safeplace' debate for this thread, some people in our office didn't realise that the 'Safeplace' option is still
available ie for the greenhouse, shed, garage if somebody is not in - so there is still a photo taken on customer property.
Have done this myself and not had any comeback from management.

I don't know why but I guess I just made the assumption that the ones with a P on it are not specifically meant to be a delivery to a safe place. I honestly thought that it requires a photo of the parcel with the customers door open and only a photo of the parcel with the customers door open.
We all know the problems with leaving these items in a safe place when the customer decides that its not a safe place after all.
You might think I'm being pedantic but I was talking to the Hermes lady and she was telling me that they are now taking pictures of the parcels with the customers door open AND getting a customer signature. All because of some particularly dodgy customers and/or parcels going missing.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

SafePlace
SafePlace should only be followed if the request has been made by the customer and
is identified on the label.
These items should only be safe placed if the receiving customer has placed an inflight
safe place request.
There is no change to the SafePlace process. These items should only be safe placed
if either it states it on the item or the receiving customer has placed an inflight safe
place request.

Re: RMCtv : Photo Capture on Delivery
What's odd about RM is the mixed messages they send out, a few weeks ago they were praising two posties who'd not brought back packages for years(?), had they really left every parcel with a neighbour or nominated safe place when the customer was out, or, just taken a chance and left them in what they considered was a "safe place"? I wonder how those two are getting on with the photo capture items!POSTMAN wrote: ↑19 Dec 2021, 17:11SafePlace

Project Manager
Capture Photo on Delivery Update:
Hi everyone,
Ops compliance for Capture Photo on Delivery landed at 99.1% for Wednesday, the target is 99%.
We have checked 960 photos from Tuesday, of which 317 were non–compliant which is 33% of the overall sample
We still have some work to do with the compliance of the photographs taken by our frontline staff, below are a few images from the photo sampling taken yesterday.
Top 3 non-compliant reasons are:
· No door visible
· Door not open, and parcel not in picture
· Parcel in picture, however door not open
Here are a few examples:

Re: RMCtv : Photo Capture on Delivery
Newsflash.
If posties genuinely only delivered parcels to people using the official "delivery standards". The vast majority of parcels would be returned to the Delivery Office, and the service would fall to pieces.
The world has changed, people are buying endless amounts of crap online. We have to get that stuff delivered...

Re: RMCtv : Photo Capture on Delivery
Not really, the big boys pay for 'Photo Capture on Delivery' so denial of receipt goes down.
It's not hard to take a photo when the door is open or 739 when not in.
If we can't or won't or don't do it, then Hermes/Yodel/DPD/whoever WILL do it.
They are all doing it-albeit with the doors closed over the gate etc but if we can't do it, then others will and those poor feckers won't get paid per parcel if not done correctly no doubt.
That is why and how we got these big contracts.
