No, just like if Boxing day fell on a day in the week. We wouldn’t be made to work it. They need to get volunteers in to work the Boxing Day

Re: Sunday 26th attendance
3.3 Sunday 26th December is not a bank holiday. Royal Mail has agreed with Ofcom
that it is a non USO day so there will be no USO collections or deliveries.
However, there will be a requirement to collect, process and deliver Covid-19 test kits, as well
as collection from POL outlets. Where service requires attendance on this day,
people attending will be paid at the appropriate scheduled attendance rate.
These additional attendances during this weekend will be on a voluntary basis with work
covered utilising the full range of resourcing options. In line with the approach agreed
in 2020 it is agreed that in order to support the operation and secure resourcing is in
place, both parties have agreed that in addition to the agreed National pay rates for
attendance, a one off lump sum will also be applicable for all CWU grades within
Royal Mail that volunteer and attend work on Sunday 26th December 2021 only.
This is in recognition for attendance on this date given the critical services related to Covid
test kits on behalf on the DHSC.
The additional lump sum payment (non-pensionable) and criteria is as follows:
Attendances that are for four hours and beyond and up to eight hours will
receive an additional lump sum payment of £38
Attendances that are in excess of eight hours or more will receive an additional
lump sum payment of £60
These arrangements cover OPGs, OSGs, MGV drivers, Mail Screeners, MDECs,
Processing Engineers, LAs, Network professional drivers and Fleet Technicians
who perform and attend on Saturday, 26th December 2021 as outlined above.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This paragraph is also from the "Peak Christmas Arrangements", to add to what POSTMAN has already posted.
3.10 In line with normal Christmas bank holiday and non USO service day arrangements, people who would normally be scheduled to work on the day of the bank holiday or non USO service day for the provision of USO collection and delivery services and
non USO parcel operations will not be required to attend and not be required to make up the hours.

Re: Sunday 26th attendance
We have been told we are working Boxing Day delivering test kits if we are normally scheduled to work Sundays.

Re: Sunday 26th attendance
We (on a Sunday contract) in our office we're told that it's voluntary only with no requirement to come in if we don't want to. Strange how it could be so inconsistent...

Re: Sunday 26th attendance
In 2015 when Boxing day fell on a Saturday 26th December the CWU Area Rep misled "us" that we had to work on that day. I subsequently wrote to Davie Robertson, Assistant secretary, CWU & received the following (EDITED) response from Davie Robertson ;
“Staffing at all RDC’s and Mail Centres on the 26th December should have been on a voluntary basis with any shortfall covered by agency resource. The Non USO day on the 26th applied to all inland operations …... As such the statement (BY THE AREA REP) that the non USO day only applied to delivery staff was incorrect.
Equally it was incorrect to suggest that OPG duty holders were compelled to attend on the 26th December”
Davie Robertson also wrote the following (edit) in his email to the Area Rep;
“I would expect equality of treatment for all OPG’s on inland operations whether that was in Delivery, Mail Centres or RDC’s.”
“As such I was of the opinion that the matter was resolved without the need to compel any OPG staff to attend on the 26th. It is therefore a concern to me that I have been misled and I do intend to take the matter up nationally.”
“Non service day should apply to all affected OPG staff in exactly the same way, something I am sure you would support.”
“Had we been aware of the circumstances prior to the event I would have been only too happy to intervene.”
Last year I had to argue the case that Boxing day was voluntary when the WAM was telling staff, contracted to work, they had to attend, he later apologised that he was incorrect in his assumption.
All the information indicates, for a contracted duty holder that, Sunday 26th December is voluntary.

"Contracted duty holder".
So anyone without a duty is treated differently. (Read, gets less days off).
Way to go, union.

Re: Sunday 26th attendance
Dexydog. I am not a Duty holder.
I was using the term as quoted by Davie Robertson "Duty Holder" coupled with "Contracted" as I am aware some employees are now contracted to work on Sunday, I appreciate some of the wording can be interpreted differently.
Read again “I would expect equality of treatment for all OPG’s on inland operations whether that was in Delivery, Mail Centres or RDC’s.”

Re: Sunday 26th attendance
Wasn't having a go at your post, apologies if that's the way it came across.
The fact remains non duty holders in my office have been given this and next Saturday as their day off, conveniently.
Funny how the rest of the year you get a Tuesday.
It's not fair, or equal.
The union doesn't care about what's fair, or equal.
