So far I’ve taken a photo of a bollard, my feet, the pavement and just a random door. The P is so small and it’s just not clear enough what items need a photo and it’s all too late when I realise and I’m at another delivery point and the pda’s on photo mode…it needs to beep several times or flash instantly so i know when a photo is necessary
If you hit "confirm" as soon the item is delivered then how can you be at another delivery point? I can't understand why RM are messing about making the P bigger, we just need a "beep" to sound, it surely can't be that hard as we get one when we tr and cancel an input.

As far as "safe places" why can't RM allow customers to nominate a safe place for all their parcel delivers rather than force them to nominate a place for every parcel delivery.

I'm sorry, I know you guys want info, important info, and up to date info, and I will do my best to bring you that, but I will continue to post in this thread because we really have some thickos in the job!

Capture Photo on Delivery

On Sunday 12/12/21 98.82% of the time a photo was taken, our performance target is 99%, so rounded up we have met this target.
However, the issue at the moment is the quality of the photographs. Of 696 pictures sampled 240 were non-compliant.

That is just 66% of the sampling being compliant

Some of the reasons for non-compliant photos include:

Door not open. (Door Stepping)
Persons face in photo (GDPR)
Scanned in DO before delivery

Here are some examples of what we found.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Monday 13/12/21 99.30% of the time a photo was taken, our performance target is 99%, we have met this target.

However, the issue at the moment is the quality of the photographs. We have re-checked 1661 photos today, of which 561 were Non compliant which is 34% of the overall sample.

That is just 66% of the sampling being compliant

Some of the reasons for non-compliant photos include:

Door not open. (Door Stepping)
Persons face in photo (GDPR)
Scanned in DO before delivery

Here are some examples of what we found to be non-compliant and the final picture (bottom right)is an example of what good looks like.

I thought the recipient had to be holding it - conceivably the OPG could have picked up the packet and walked off with it (which is also true of photographing it hanging out of the letterbox). That mannequin with the black shoes on a mock doorstep built on the same soundstage Stanley Kubrick faked the moon landings is proof of next to nothing.

Tuesday 14th December, 99.30% of the time a photo was taken, our performance target is 99%, well done.

Quality of photographs is still a big issue. Today we re-checked 1102 photos today, of which 372 were Non–compliant which is 34% of the overall sample.
That is just 66% of the sampling being compliant

Here are today’s examples of non-compliant photos.

These are the best ones yet...

unfortunately these pictures are very real but what is more worrying is these are the pictures that our customer sees when they look at proof of delivery on RM Track and Trace.

I had an interesting day yesterday, for 3 deliveries that required a photo capture on delivery, and each were isolating and refused to open the doors.

One was isolating as they were receiving chemotherapy and explained through the door that her husband wipes down all the packages for her to prevent any potential infection on his return from work, the other two had Covid and isolating, and refused to open the door.

With the rise of Covid, when taking photo capture on delivery, if we cannot take a picture of an open door delivery, we require options to indicate alternatives and why (like you have with safe place) e.g.customer present isolating.
Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

I’ve thought that for a while. However until the powers that be eventually sort that option (and make the p symbol bigger and give an audible beep) in those circumstances I’d just click on camera is faulty.

I had a situation on Monday when I delivered to a prison where taking pictures isn’t allowed so I just stuck my finger over the lens, clicked take picture then selected camera faulty. Really we shouldn’t have to do this but sometimes it’s the only way.

Likewise if you get half a mile down the road and realise it’s asking for a photo just cover the lens, take the photo (which then comes up blurry), camera is faulty and then you’ve done what you can.

I bet Uncle Simon hates me if he reads this. :wave
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

In someone's mind giving posties an option to take photos with doors closed would lead to all sorts of abuses. You know, cause we all go out of our way to undermine the procedures for our own ends, the contrary work shy layabouts that we are.

The official explanation on what to do when delivering to prisons etc is mentioned earlier in the thread.

As far as the husband wiping parcels for his wife, why can't he do that once a photo has been taken? I also wonder does he also go to his wife's work and wipe the door handles etc?

FaQ In the 1st post if needed...

Senior Deployment Lead

Capture Photo on Delivery - 2,000,000 Items

A big thank you to all our operational colleagues for all their hard work.
However, we have further work to do to improve the compliance of the photos.

If you were the customer and the items below were the proof of delivery you saw on RM Track and Trace, how would you feel?
Please stop and think, is this what the customer is expecting?

Would I be happy as a customer to see these images?
If there is something you are unsure of please ask.

If you have feedback or any suggestions on how we can address this issue, please do not hesitate to get involved. If we all work together, we can fix this.

Let’s get this right, first time, every time.

Senior Deployment Lead - suggestions:

Get your management to actually do some proper WTLL on this - we have still not officially be trained, just cobbled
together guess work we've sussed out for ourselves, info from RMC (that site that you say has
got it in for RM) and reserves who have info from colleagues in other offices.

Get your IT team to sort out a proper pop up message that appears the instant you scan the item not the
pathetic minute 'P' that you can miss when it's dark or slinging it down with rain.

Yes - get it right first time, every time - but you didn't did you - because to paraphrase your statement 'it needs fixing'

I asked Carole the woman from there in this thread for the documents so I could put them on here.
She would not give them to me because I did not have @royalmail.com email address.

I was tempted to do the :funneh 'don't you know who I am thing', but couldn't be arsed to argue.

Serious question now: what if I hand it to a customer who comes out of a side door over a low garden fence to keep a dog in? I can't physically access their door.
