Burslem bits!!

Dear Colleagues,

Following meetings with Royal Mail and after 3 weeks of continuous strike action by members in Burslem this dispute has hit a critical stage.

In order to find a way forward the Union has offered Royal Mail numerous opportunities to allow the corrupt process they are using to be independently overseen in order to demonstrate some iota of fairness. The Union offered:



- the National Appeals Panel – rejected by Royal Mail

- ACAS talks to resolve the dispute – rejected by Royal Mail

- ACAS to nominate an independent panel – rejected by Royal Mail

- The TUC to nominate an independent panel – rejected by Royal Mail

At a meeting last Friday Royal Mail stated that they are under “no pressureâ€

very vindictive , RM might have had to compromise on Brown's orders but that's the union breaking they wanted before the strikes . Burslem would be a scalp , then they'd go looking elsewhere .

"There is a desire to break your union like never before , I hope you can afford your SWP subscriptions and you won't be able to make trouble for RM as you won't be able to pay the broadband bills from your giros" -A DUM "Moderator " on a right wing rival site .

The GMB took Asda to Tribunal and won over the "scrapeaway " "idea " , Asda sent out propaganda letters asking members to relinquish National Bargaining , there was leaked minutes about sacking reps and anyone who didn't agree to it .Pity the CWU doesn't try more than a civil action .

That's why everything is deliberately worded so vaguely , obscure and ambigiously . Everything is riddled with contradictions , deliberate misinformation , distortion and begs more questions than it answers as it's to a foregone conclusion .

Very American union busting tactics , but comes as no surprise .

This smacks of Leighton or a senior manager trying to impress him , one idea with that spiv !

Its about time our beloved union got the rest of its members involved in
this dispute i cannot believe that this is being allowed to go on so long
without support from the rest of its members from around the nation
Is there any way of sending donations to help ease the tremendous
strain that our members are going through.

I don't suppose the CWU expected this to go on for so long. They're only asking for an independent review of the suspensions and any rational management would have granted that request and got everybody else back to work quickly. It's a surreal situation. RM must know that the action will eventually spread, since people in the UK are accustomed to the notion that everyone is entitled to a fair trial before being condemned. An attempted breach of that rule feels wrong to almost everybody.

Suspensions and the like have always been corrupt and to a predetermined outcome , there was a mock innocent article about people filing B&H claims but not pushing for formal action in that propaganda comic . It's simply because there's no faith , confidence and trust .

Senior Management were given too many complaints and problems so they've to somehow wriggle out of them and deter people from making further complaints .

It's pure petty spite for that petition , and a bombastic defend the indefensible approach . Unless there are brownie points to be earned from outside organisations / if RM is being monitored by said organisations .

RM obviously want the CWU systematically ran out of RM .The CWU should take RM to IT for detriment , like Unison are doing with Karen Weissmann and the GMB did with ASDA

I did't know this dispute was still ongoing.the information from cwu this past year as been poor,i learn more on this site.A fund should be set up for our colleagues.

Do you know the only place I have ever heard of Burslem is on this website.
Until I signed up here I had never even heard of Burslem or that its DO was on strike.
There has been no mention of it at local level here. No mention of it in any branch letter or anything.

Rm don't want anyone to know what's going on in Burslem. They know that if people knew what was really going on they would be seen for what they are!

They want the Public in particular to think that they are a fair and caring Employer, and employ every tactic that they can, to create that illusion.

One thing the Burslem lads have proved is that us Posties are twice as efficient as Managers - how. According to various reports 100 Posties are on strike and they have been replaced by 218 Managers.

The better point is how come RM can send over 200 managers to Burslem, maybe :lfo :cfo should look at getting rid of the managers instead of posties.

Just thinking about this, my DOM has been AWOL from Christmas maybe he's over in Burslem at the moment (because he can't manage an office so maybe he's a better postie)
