I think it's a big step out and opportunity for us to make Sunday just a normal day.
we know that in retail, it's the busiest day of the week for people to go shopping, and we want to do the same for online shopping as well, it's a big opportunity for us.

Q : What is your response from colleagues who feel they might feel they are going to be forced to work non contracted days

We are not forcing anyone to do anything.
As per our agreements, Sunday working is voluntary.
I would say, however, to be successful, we need people that are willing to work on Saturday Sundays.
So my plea to everyone is, can you look into the viability for yourself to work on Sundays instead of another day of the week.

Q : We are in a really good position with our unions why is this such a milestone for our agreements?

we are in a really good position with our unions, and I think it is just so important and in fact, pleasing, that we all believe it is a growth opportunity for this company, and that jointly. we can make it work.

i think sundays are the last thing they need to be thinking about at this time , they need to get more staff and get through the s**t show of this christmas , these people are unreal and deluded of what is going on

a few million years ago, a day was only 21 hours long, not 24. If we were flexible, and pretended we lived along side the dinosaurs, this could open the opportunity to give us an extra working day per week

and a step further (after consulting with ofcom) Posties could run on a different 'calender', perhaps we could call it the 'Post-gregorian calender' and we could include whatever we wanted, perhaps an extra month of work per year, preferably around Christmas.

Focus on the present instead of the future. Over the years during xmas we have cleared the office with no fuss, everyone including myself and would go that extra mile to complete at the weekend. Worst xmas I've known since I started and nobody wants to work a Sunday (ok maybe a few).

They asked this at our office and next to no one volunteered. One lad said he would do it if he could have Saturday off every week he worked Sunday instead and was just told no we can't do that. Not saying everybody's situation is the same but 99%+ of people have things they can do or need to do on weekends. What are you going to do with two days off during the week and working nearly every weekend?

Never shown up more as now what a class society we currently are, us working class idiot 'serfs' are asked to work on a Sunday or late in the week whilst the 'owning' middle upper Royal Mail manager class finish by 3 or earlier most week days and will never appear on a Sunday in an office (some not on a Saturday either). It's happened in retail along with low pay already, I would expect our union to fight this back, but on this they are currently failing all ends up.
