That's the postcard he posted up in the union room.

There's more bits on the OS,including a pension modeller.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Read the links, and thanks. Are any of you aware that the proposition to close the Final Salary scheme coincides with the introduction of the governments new 2nd pension into which both employee and employer both contribute?
Can't help but think that we are being made to pay for this future funding of the new scheme :shhhhh

Further to my last post, you might find this helpful in understanding the current proposals http://www.unison.org.uk/acrobat/B1763.pdf
A bit long winded I know, but a good read for those who are concerned. You have EVERY right to be.

Thanks for that heapsy.
So leaving aside having to work an extra five years, if the laughingly named CARE system is adopted the average employee will have a pension 25% smaller

Yes and the percentages to be contributed by both parties has already been shown to be totaly inadequate at providing a pension that will be of any use at all :cry

There is a difference in the CWUs position and that of the Unison Doc which make a massive difference. Firstly the Unison doc states that the Gov wants the reevaluation rate based on RPI but the CWU position is that it should be linked to Earnings which based on history would see much better returns.

All in all though it cannot be denied that whether the loss will be small or large the majority of members will lose from this proposal from RM
