Funny how it varies in different areas, we're overwhelmed and being told to leave mail and concentrate on parcels.
I'll add we've got vacancies, no agency this year, worse run up to Xmas ever so far at our place.

Where are the Christmas levels of parcels? Everyday is like a really bad Wednesday but nowhere near what I was expecting
They are coming tomorrow.
Wasn't that bad today either

Felt a lot busier in September/October as was finishing late every day. Barely had a late finish recently and was even home nearly two hours early today! Sure tomorrow will bring more parcels though
I'm sorry but I simply don't believe you. Home 2 hrs early????? I'm trying hard to be polite here.

Maybe people started Xmas shopping online earlier than usual, because of the warnings of driver shortages and such.

I’m guessing Swindon is struggling with parcels. The last few days has seen the tracked ones I have posted scanned into Greenford 24 hours later.

Ironically more than half of them will end up going back to Swindon for delivery in RG, SN and OX.

Our office has been clear for weeks now. The revisions changed next to nothing but from what people transferring from other offices have said previously is that we had a lot bigger walks than other office so makes me thing perhaps they have just been brought up to a similar level.

Tuesdays work load seemed relatively quiet which made me think they had perhaps held some back to allow many offices struggling to catch up a little? Couple that with the fact there was a packet driver assisting also and it was a really easy day. There was many others coming back to the office when I was as well. I am leaving the company this week though so they wouldn't bother asking me to do more even if there was anything to do, which there basically wasn't.

no staff , no parcel drivers so standard parcel yorks for p&l deliverys just sat there as they are only interested in tracked parcels , doing 2 days worth on mail on one delivery and tracked off the other one and if you cant do it bring mail back , and then they just tell you to do the same on the other delivery next day but all the time standard parcels being thrown aside , the company and the cwu are a disgrace to staff and joe public.
Totaly agree.

I do think people are a bit more prepared. Last year there were a bunch of people who'd normally have been in and out of shops through November, suddenly panic buying online as the lockdown went into the confustication of the "tiers" system. This year not only have shops been more open, people are used to online shopping... I know yesterday was the quietist my walk has been since the revision, and today wasn't as bad as any of the past 3 weeks.

Packets are for all year round now, not just for Christmas.

Craft gin club can get in the bin though, had 9 of those the other day

Well I dunno where some of you work, but we're f***ing rammed.

Duties were already 1-2 hours too big after the failed revision. Now you either leave a load undelivered, or you complete delivery and book 3-4 hours overtime.

Still not enough vans, still not enough staff, still massive USO failures daily.

Can’t even get one of the duties done most days on our van share, big parcels been took off us and put on dedicated parcel duties also. One of us spends between 1 and 2 hours doing tracked off duty we haven’t took out whilst other cracks on doing loops. Must be at least half the office working this way since the revision made duties about 2.5 hours too big, so frustrating. Non tracked parcels shoved aside for days on end then if no one spare to do them over the days which there usually isn’t we try rotate them with fresh non tracked parcels so they get done, it’s bollocks.

We must have big walks too. People getting out at 10 are getting back at 5.30 here.

You left work 2 hours early?

Based on what I hear sometimes.... Royal Mail need to sort out the discrepancy between rounds/depots.... why are some Posties getting easy rounds that finish way early whereas others are out 30mins, 1 hour+ late...

What a waste of money and terribly unfair.

Some guy came from another depot locally to help out in our depot and said he finishes an hour early daily.... what the hell! this does not happen at our depot, average finish time is probably 30 minutes after our contracted hours.
