The xmas bonus/supplement or whatever it's called if you go sick thread : 2021 pay dates and amounts...

Post by POSTMAN »

As per EVERY year, the screws will tell you that you have to give up one of your borned kids if you go sick during XMAS pressure.
While we wait for the LTB this is what was a while ago but probably has not changed much, if at all.
The crux is, if you get paid sick pay, you lose nothing...

The Royal Mail pay directive states :

The directive authorises a one off christmas supplement to operational and operational support employees in post on 29th November 2010 who complete the four week christmas pressure period . The payment is a flat rate of £100 per person (paid pro -rata to part time employees and will be paid on Friday 17th December 2010. The payment is not consolidated , neither is reckonable for overtime , allowances , SA , nor pension purposes. It is liable for tax and National insurance.

Part time employees are entitled to the xmas supplement on a pro rata basis. They will recive the payment pro rata to a full time (eg 40/39 5/39 hours ) week according to their contracted hours on the date paymentis made. Part time employees that vary their contractual hours and work full time for a two week period during the christmas pressure period will be paid the full christmas supplement.

Eligiblity for payment is linked to employment during the christmas pressure period.

For each full week an indivdual recieves no pay during the presure period ( eg unpaid special leave etc (no sick pay due to not having any left) ) the indivdual will lose one quarter of the supplement.

For each full week where basic pay is reduced for sick pay pension rate the indivdual will lose one quarter of the supplement.

For each full week where basic pay is reduced for sick half pay the indivdual will lose one - eighth of the supplement

For each day counted midnight to midnight excluding bank holidays on which an employee takes unofficial industrial action their supplement will be abted by 10% for officail action it will be abted by 3%

From...LTB 530/21 - Royal Mail - Peak/Christmas Arrangements 2021

Christmas Pay Supplement

The Christmas pay supplement of £100 for full time OPG and OSGs, pro-rated for part timers
and 35-hour full timers (subject to the arrangements in Section 7) will be paid on Friday 17th

The eligibility criteria for the Christmas supplement payment will be the same as

In the event of any Industrial Action the abatement criteria will be drawn from the PBS agreement.

The separate payment of £100 (pro rata for PT and 35hr full time employees) agreed in the
National Joint Statement - New Incentive Arrangements June 2012 will also be paid on Friday,
17th December. As in previous years, any necessary top up payments for Part Time or 35 hr
Full time employees will be made in January 2021 in accordance with the actual hours worked
at standard rate, beyond contractual during 2019.

Pay dates and payroll processes remain the same for weekly paid employees, with current
week basic pay, assigned allowances and previous week’s additional hours and ad hoc
adjustments paid each Friday. Due to the impact of Bank/Public holidays on payroll operations,
the following arrangements apply:

Weekly-Paid Contracted Employees

o Regular Pay (Basic & assigned allowances)
o Overtime / SA / Ad hoc allowances performed w/c 22nd November

With the full time hours going down does this mean the pro-rata money goes up?

If SWW has been implemented in your office, divide the supplement by 37 not 38

One Hundred whole English pounds eh? Whoopee Fuc£ing Do ..... that's what's obviously making all us Posties drag our sorry asses in over the December period isn't it?

I would have thought most Posties, with even the tightest of customers, would manage to make more in tips. Is this what our illustrious leaders think we're worth for 4 weeks backbreaking pressure? :speak to the hand

If I'm ill I won't be in .... and you can stick your £100 up your ass Simon. :cuppa

Is £100 better than £50 though?

Someone should ask Terry if £100 is enough to buy a dinner on holiday :cuppa

They could of increased the £100 payment due to the profits they made as they are giving the Chairman a bonus and the shareholders one as well.
Considering the extra work we have done over the last year but no all Thompson did was moan about our sick record being more than last year

I expect if we kicked up a fuss about it RM would take the same view as they did over the Long Service Payments. "We realise that this ammount of money doesn't really reflect the length of service & loyalty that you have show .... so we've decided to stop it)! :arrrghhh

Perhaps the payments should be index linked to the Dividends? :cuppa

Good point but none of us will actually get 100 per bonus though - pro rata for P/T'ers takes a chunk and even
for FT'ers tax will take a further chunk off.

Wouldn't it be better/fairer to say give a 10% pay increase across the board for the four weeks so everyone got a pro rata bonus for the actual hrs worked including overtime?

The rest was surplus to requirements.

Yep I realise you can still go sick, and get paid, Rambo. My comment was more about the paltry sum they offer as an inticement. Do you consider £100 a reasonable reward to complete the four week Christmas pressure period? :cuppa

Sorry, misunderstood what you meant. Yes I agree its not much, a 10% increase on ALL earnings in the 4 weeks up to Christmas would be better in most cases and reward those who do actually put in the extra hard work instead of giving a full timer cutting off every day ,more than a part timer putting in 50hr weeks.

A £200 bonus..... are they having a laugh!!!

With all the money we are saving them by clearing double mail because they aren't employing staff to cover our days off!

Outrageous!
