We all got a letter today, worded in an obfuscating fashion...
Gist of it was: If your scheduled day off is Christmas/Boxing/New Year's day, you don't get paid for those days.

As a colleague said, "Merry Christmas from Royal Mail, and their record profits"

I would have thought that's a pretty shite thing making Posties work to deliver test kits, when they could be having a day off.... bet non of "Simon's Volunteers" will be putting their names down for those extra days over Christmas? :thumbdown

As for Test Kits .... it's not as if their a Plague Vacinne, that's just to be delivered! Most people I know have been getting regular deliveries of those Little Blue Boxes, my Missus has got loads spare FFS. :cuppa
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

You don't get paid for your day off anyway, unless you work it. You get paid for 5 days a week and have two off ,for which you don't get paid. I think you mean if it isn't your day off you get the day off AND still get paid. This is crap but always been the case.

FWIW one of the managers at my office confirmed today that they plan to open on Boxing Day and the Monday and Tuesday bank holidays delivering covid kits.
Any lat office should be open to deliver the covid kits.

We deliver covid kits every single day of the year except Xmas day & New Years Day. It will be staffed by volunteers on Boxing Day & the substitute Bank Holidays. Btw the covid kits are the purple PCR ones.

The blue Lateral Flow Tests can go f' themselves. They sent the Lateral Flow kits to us one Sunday, we got the union guy to check up on this and he confirmed with his superiors the blue tests arent part of the workload for Sundays & Bank Holidays.

Delivery staff will not be expected to work these days unless they volunteer.

I havent seen or been told by any official channels but this is the way its always been. It was the same last year.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but won't this year be different because this year there are people on Sunday contracts? I am and as far as I know (and this still hasn't been confirmed to me yet) Boxing Day will be a normal working day for people like me on those contracts.

This was the information given last year when Boxing Day fell on Saturday.
3
.6 "In line with normal Christmas bank holiday and non USO service day arrangements, people who would normally be scheduled to work on the day of the bank holiday or non USO service day for the provision of USO collection and delivery services and non USO parcel operations will not be required to attend and not be required to make up the hours."

So presumably, as Boxing Day this year (Sunday) has been deemed as a non USO service day, there will be no requirement to attend.

Just to add that a colleague now works every Sunday. The people App shows non-working day (shaded grey) Sunday 26th December.

I work every Saturday & the People App shows Saturday 25th as non-working day.

It also shows Saturday 1st January 2022 as a non-working day. So i am a bit bemused by the Jan 1st LTB 512/21 – Christmas/Peak and New Year’s Operational Arrangements posted today.

Same same.

25th & 26th will be non-service days therefore you are not "required" to attend even if you are contacted to work it. You can volunteer to work it on o/t (or other payment) if u wished and RM needed volunteers.

Posties contracted to work Saturday 25th Dec will have it off. It will be the same with Sun 26th Dec.

We get blue & purple mixed throughout the week. We no longer get the blue ones on a sunday or Bank Holidays.
