Are there Delays on Special Delivery Guaranteed?

[C2019]

Posted 2 items yesterday and both items going to the same address and both were sent Special Delivery by 1. Postage cost £12 each and neither parcel has arrived today and looking at the tracking it only just arrived at Tyneside MC when it should have been out for delivery.
The parcels are going to Durham but here is how the tracking looks as of now.
Is this normal for a SD1 to be delayed ? I heard that this option was the most reliable for the UK

Looking at the time of the last entry the lorry arrived at Tyneside MC too late for the mail to catch the final runs to the delivery offices. What part of the country is it coming from?

Hi, It’s from South Yorkshire and was delivered to Sheffield at 18:23, left Sheffield at 21:00 and arrived at Tyneside at 12:18 the next day

The lorry might have got held up by snow on the roads. I believe that Yorkshire got it quite bad with the snow

Hello,

I have similar issue and really worried as it's important I receive parcel tomorrow.

This is special delivery parcel posted to me from London to Tyneside guaranteed for 1pm today, however, all I can see in online etracking is this and it's not updated for 24 hours.

Could anyone give me any advice, please? It looks like left London but not reached Tyneside?

It's confusing however as also states this at top of page - I.e. It's due to leave London. So it's not clear to me whether it's even left London?

One possibility this time of year is that the lorries are reaching capacity early and so head off to their destinations as soon as they're full up
