who do you think you are calling me a selfish individual at the end of the day i cant see what the hell im doin with it on as wear glasses to see the s**t small printed letters under s**t lighting plus if you dont wear them in pubs whats the bloody point :mad

This is why the new advice given is bonkers and won't be carried out effectively.

People being forced to wear masks in shops, on buses or in the workplace but not in pubs or restaurants.
People need to travel on public transport to get to their job where they earn money to buy food in shops, you or i do not need to go to a pub or restaurant, you make a personal choice to go there or not.

It really is groundhog day

Its a personal choice whether people decide to get the vaccine or not. In some jobs they have made it compulsory that they should be vaccinated.

It's as if people deliberately look for a flaw or even a slight contradiction in any advice/requirements to decide not to follow it.
It's pretty simple. You are being asked to be considerate of other people and wear a wafer thin piece of fabric over your mouth AND nose for a brief period of time. It genuinely seems to be too much to ask of many people.

I spotted an obvious flaw but that doesn't mean to say that I wouldn't follow the advice. I just believe that the government are taking a half-hearted approach to it all and the last time they did this it ended up with the country in lockdown. If its serious enough to warrant regular briefings then they should be taking it seriously.

Wearing a wafer thin piece of fabric over your mouth while van sharing? Last time, the CWU stopped van sharing. What will they be doing about it now??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Oddly the company are insisting upon proof of exemption from a gp.
If you already have a pre existing condition that RM have been advised of you don't need to prove anything.
You only need to provide proof if you all of a sudden have a disability.
"I'm done with covid" not being one of the acceptable reasons.
I don’t actually possess any ears after an accident so have no way of attaching said mask to my face.

Face Shield or adding knicker elastic between the ear pieces should solve that. Sorry to hear of your accident though. :chuckle :chuckle

What is the current position on van sharing?

In line with the easing of restrictions across the UK in Summer 2021 and in conversation with our
union partners, we agreed an approach to return to more normal working methods which
included a return to van sharing.

Can drivers still use their private cars to reach a delivery point?

No. The procedure for allowing private cars to be used as a temporary measure has been removed
from Monday 11
th October 2021. Where drivers are unable to share due to personal conditions
such as anxiety or stress, managers must work through those concerns on an individual basis using
the Stress Risk Assessment

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Q: Are we still allowed to share vans at alert level 4 ?

A :
Shaun Davis
Yes, providing local risk assessments are still in place, face coverings are worn and the cab is ventilated. If social distancing requirements change we will update. Thanks.

Sounds like van sharing will have to end in Wales from 27th December, as two metre social distancing returns to shops and workplaces.

In fairness though, given how transmittable Omicron is, why are any of us van sharing now?

Back to some staff having to start in the afternoons. I doubt there'd be a hope in hell of RM getting enough vans to allow some to start at their normal time and some to start once the first lot have gone

They'll just let people go out in car again. Nobody had to start in a afternoon at our office, it was a personal choice

What are your thoughts on training a colleague on a rural duty. Two people in a van for seven hours.

Wouldn't come under van sharing ,Would it?

From the 27th December we will have the 2m rule in place as well. What is the unions stance on this issue.

it will obviously cost RM money to suspend van sharing ,any decent company would protect their employees a lot sooner but no not RM.
