well 1 set was 5 or 6 mins per column so, multiplied by 7 would give you either 35 or 42 mins per one set. but the timescales get stupid the more sets you have. the maths doesnt work.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 20:55What allocated time.

If you come into work and there's mountains of mail and parcels what would you do? Cut off? Book overtime? Same applies if prepping d2d delays you going out on delivery and stops you finishing in your duty time

well this is why i am bringing this up. what do people do at offices where they say you have to prep in ALL D2Ds on the monday. do you prep them all in and go home. cos you simply would not have time to prep the mail in let alone go out and deliver it if it takes you a full shift to prep in the D2Ds. it just doesn't happen in our office. at least the DOM and lino at ours have the sense to know its unachieveable. thats why they've kept it at one column a day.

Believe it or not there are some clowns that come in 2 hours early (unpaid) on a Monday just to put their D2Ds together. And even then most never actually manage to bang it all in the frame unless they are on a rural. Some of our duties have over 1,000 calls, double slots, so no point in putting them all in one day because you would literally spend most of the shift just prepping and putting them all in.
So like you said its best to do one column a day if you're on a man-sized duty (like mine)
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

We prep them and then let the DOM know if we will complete or not, if we don't want the overtime usually told to take all packets and leave whatever mail we can't deliver behind.daveyeff wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 19:04well this is why i am bringing this up. what do people do at offices where they say you have to prep in ALL D2Ds on the monday. do you prep them all in and go home. cos you simply would not have time to prep the mail in let alone go out and deliver it if it takes you a full shift to prep in the D2Ds. it just doesn't happen in our office. at least the DOM and lino at ours have the sense to know its unachieveable. thats why they've kept it at one column a day.
Not sure how prepping all the d2d is going to take up your whole day

Re: new d2d regime in do
2000 calls in total and 4 sets would be 8000 d2ds to prep in. the driver is part time and doesn't come in til half 8. so even if i got half of his frame boxed in he would still have 2000 to prep and i would have all of my side to do. i can see it would be doable on small duties with 5 or 600 calls and maybe 1 or 2 sets of d2ds and single slotted frames, but certainly not doable on the duties we have. all double slots. i just cant see how it can be done.
