This why I left. Best decision I've ever made. It's too much since covid.

norris9 . . your message is so true , and I'm case in point , been in 2 years , just handed my notice in , i've had enough , Royal Mail do so much wrong and very little right to keep it's posties happy , it's just more and more prep (or double mail ) , more D2Ds , more parcels , more collections , all the time , instead of employing enough staff - to enable doable balanced workloads , it goes the opposite way , recruitment bans etc , then add bad revisions in the mix , duh !!!

12 years here for me and fully intend to leave by the end of next year if I can line another job up with close to or similar pay. The job is utter s**t now, every week there is more work put on us and it will never end until we keel over and die on delivery.

Left earlier this year after nearly 25 years.....zero regret. You don't realise how the job is dragging you with it until you're out of it. Sad but true.

Eight years in and handing in my notice next week :nana got a new job that pays less but has better long term potential. Like many on here actually quite enjoyed the job until the last couple of years and now just feel warn out and ready to do something else

Simon Thomson

Additional chart added - looks like 1-3 days & 1-7 day absence - is the problem to solve....

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Just over 7 years left for me before I take very early retirement (funding myself for 10 years before I can take my pension at the earliest opportunity).

I still enjoy the job but like most others say, they keep adding things on, so you either avoid confrontation and complete or you work to your time with all the crap (from other posties not just management) that comes with it.

And if you do go above and beyond to help out, you ultimately get shafted anyway - be it holiday pay, never being able to book a single day off, putting forward motions to have us work 1st Jan etc.

Add in a Union which is quickly losing any power it had. Plus an undercurrent of ‘if you don’t like the job leave’ or ‘we’ve all had to go through it’ (as if it makes it right) from colleagues. Makes me laugh seeing comments about solidarity, 99% here would sell out their colleague for an extra tenner or an early finish.

The main thing RM has going for me personally is it pays quite well and it’s enabling me to put a good chunk of money aside, and I’m at the level where I don’t need to think much about what I’m doing, I’ve done most of the rounds now so I’m on autopilot. 7 years without needing to think much will go very quickly.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

The simple fact is RM/CWU could care less about frontline posties - they will screw us over as much as they can get away with. The company is now no different to Amazon/Yodel/Hermes - it is going to get worse and worse and they know it and could care less as long as shareholders get their money.

This has really wound me up probably more than it should do. People who are unlucky enough to get ill are now being called out in public (rather than behind closed doors which we knew always went on). How much more of this are the CWU going to allow?

Honestly how do we complain about this officially? Any company that is having a go at people for catching things like sickness and diarrhoea need calling out, maybe a leak to the press this is truly disgusting.

Time to exit good people. They're going to grind you all into the ground. Forget your overtime, spend every minute you can trying to get another job. They are scum, absolute scum who only care about maximising shareholder profit.

I’m completely astounded this is a comment from the ceo of Royal Mail. Problem to solve? What’s he going to do cure the common cold and sickness bugs so nobody is off for a few days at a time. Obviously he’s not so this is a sly remark from him alluding to the staff taking the mick and being dishonest for sick leave. Where the hell is the union we all pay for and are they going to give any response at all?
