I've read it, I've read it, I've read it, and I think you know we're gonna have to on this one, we have to push it back to the field team.
I'm afraid the people that are out there, because when had a look on Monday, we had five hundred and forty more vans than we needed, so so whether they're all in the right place I have no idea.

Well, clearly, they're not all in the right place, right, because the team doesn't say stuff if it's not right so let's get that fixed, you know, and the other thing is well, which I've stumbled across in one of our officers, is that you know, we put some dedicated parcel delivery routes in and the number of routes we put in and the vans they had they were less vans than routes, and I just, you know. I don't think that's going to work, is it, so so I think we'll put that one back to the operational team, clearly, the team need the tools of the job, you know how I feel about that, I have a very strong figure, that's why we did PDA's, all the other things that we're doing right, but what I saw on Monday is that we're enough vans, whether in the right place, probably not, but I'll let the field team sort that one out.

And team out there, you know, particularly delivery office managers, you know, DILO is in place, you have the decision, right, you know, I think it's well within your rights to be stamping your feet if you need some things, of course. we've got to do quality, we've got to do productivity and all the rest of the things I don't know how you can implement twelve dedicated, you know, delivery routes, if you don't have twelve vans, I don't see how that works.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

True story: a rural driver here was given a van where the battery/starter motor had gone. A line manager asked her, if they jump started the van was it possible for her to do the whole delivery without turning the engine off.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I've had to take a van out that wouldn't unlock if the engine was turned off, was asked to "keep it running and in sight"

The problem occured BECAUSE they originally said you must do all your delivery and switch the engine off EVERY time you stop. Even if you aren't getting out the van if you just have to put window down and reach for the letterbox. That's what they told me anyway. Had two starter motors in mine in three yrs.

The last time we had a van with a dodgy starter motor they got it started and then sent someone on light duties out in it to spend the whole time sitting in the passenger seat so the engine could be left running. Also had similar happen with vans with a faulty door lock.

Penny pinching at peak time!

How many vans are not fit for purpose with intermittent faults, which are left in the corner of the yard.
How many hours are wasted because afternoon temps don’t have a van or PDA and have to wait for morning staff to return back to office.

What he should really worry about is how the xxxx we gonna manage when the Nasty African Covid Mutation enters our door.
