Re: The 7 day service thread plus Royal Mail survey
Someone who works in an NDC and does not work days or deliver anything.
When will the union decide its time to give the message to posties that we are going to have to move to the next phase and bring in compulsory weekend cover.? Contentious maybe, but a fact of real life. Stop molly coddling. The company have agreed to meet us halfway, its about time posties, union included, faced the harsh reality.
I know its hard for members enjoying a nigh on 500 year way of working to change, but its not like our conditions are being attacked, more like protected through change.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Maybe they could bring in Sunday contracts, similar to the Saturday contracts we have now...

Wouldn't Saturday and Sunday, with maybe Monday as well contracts be more likely?

Does it really matter as long as Sundays are included in the contract and the person knows that is part of the job they are taking onSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑22 Nov 2021, 19:45Wouldn't Saturday and Sunday, with maybe Monday as well contracts be more likely?

Not offically, Sundays are mandatory despite what a manager/Dom tells you. Agency fill the gaping hole at present as current staff don't volunteer. You're expected to do your fair share and anyone joining should be aware of this but still it's not official and certainly not every week like they tell the majority of new starters.

Hmmm, premium pay for Sunday, Simon says no...
we need to find a way of being fair to the team - and having the same cost for a Sunday as a Tuesday as a Monday - the retailers don’t pay more - they pay the same price - regardless of the day…..

Re: The 7 day service thread plus Royal Mail survey
Looking through RM vacancies, some are advertised as "five days across Monday to Saturday" and some are "five days across Sunday to Saturday" or words to that effect. If there is joined up thinking in HR then that should indicate what would be in the contract.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Re: The 7 day service thread plus Royal Mail survey
I would be all for Sunday’s if we can reduce the working week to 35 hours split across a 4 day week. Then some sort or rolling rota like mon-thu, tue-fri, wed-sat, thu-sun etc etc. As long as I’m not working every Sunday I could live with it.

Re: The 7 day service thread plus Royal Mail survey
Can anyone confirm if in fact they are considering delivering mail on a Sunday? Otherwise, if it is parcels only, and they're thinking of incorporating this into a rota for all, how would this affect the many non-drivers.
Or are we going to be looking at a range of different shift patterns within offices depending on whether you're delivering mail or parcels?

"As it relates to the stock market, speculation is the anticipation of future price movement based on a belief"https://study.com/academy/lesson/what-i ... arket.html
It was more of a joke A2B, but I suppose you could apply that statement in that unless anyone has definitive information, then it is all based on belief.
