For several months now we’ve been told to put all D2Ds in the frame on a Monday only. This was ok when only 1 or 2 but the last 2 weeks I’ve had 5 D2Ds to put in filling up the slots so virtually no room for the mail. This takes ages to do and is hard on the hands especially as some of the paper is like razor blades, I’m covered in paper cuts. The bundles are huge and heavy and of course there is more mail as getting closer to Christmas. To top it all we’ve not been able to claim any overtime for months. I hate to think what the next 6 weeks will be like as D2Ds don’t stop on the lead up to Christmas like they used to.

Early finish on a Saturday? Can't remember the last time I had one of them. You come back early any day in my office and you are sent back out. Need to get a transfer to your office.

Job and finish is long gone (can't remember if it was the Way Forward or Pay&Mod). The DOM is quite within his rights to send you back out in you finish early. Higher up are probably keeping an eye on the total time that staff arrive back early and there's the risk that they might take that amount of time out of the DO

We've never yet been instructed to throw all D2Ds in on a Monday. It's our shortest day of the week (6Hrs 50 mins including meal relief in my office.) so the management know there's no way we would have time to throw out the whole frame with multiple items. We have numerous deliveries with over 900 delivery points and most of the others are in the 700's (a lot of terraced streets).

They basically let us deliver them the way we want to. Plenty get carried over until the following week, however, because we have double figure failures of deliveries every day, and have done for months. That's how it is where I work.

1/6th per day and i don't or won't put them in my frame and if i was asked to prep another frame i'd pull the lot back out as it slows your rate down
we got told never to leave them in frame as live mail was regularly found mixed inside them and left in
i'm not even aware of any guidelines on amount to be taken,
though recently anyone covering a duty on overtime seem to be exempt from taking them :left:

In our office in theory we are supposed to put all d2d in on a Monday since our revision, but this hasn't been enforced yet. Now on my delivery it's semi rural with a fair number of firms so I only have to deal with around 300 items per d2d, so not a big issue for me to do all on a Monday. However some of the new town deliveries are 800-1000 delivery points so by the time they put 5000 d2d's in it will be finish time.

Wasn't there a nationwide announcement that all D2Ds were supposed to be prepped on a Monday once duties had been tweaked this autumn? Doesn't happen at my depot, still throwing in ~20% each day Mon-Fri and warm call with letters.

Where do the d2d’s go these days after they are returned to the MC are they still returned to the originator or do RM dispose of them?

Last I heard we're meant to return them to the DOs as AFAIK we're not allowed to send them anywhere else

i still cant get my head around this. how can anyone have time to put a full frame of D2Ds in on a monday.
Our Monday hours are 6.30 to 14.10.
That is 7 hours.
Surely it wouldn't take you more than 7 hours to prep your D2D?
love the sarcasm. but you know as well as anyone. it cant be done in allocated time. i would love to see ANY gaffer do it. or anyone for that matter on 2 duties totaling over 2000 calls and with 4 or 5 sets. even 3. impossible.

I double prep. So 1100 ish calls. 2 weeks ago we had 7 d2d each. 7700 to do in a week. Hahahahaha. They never came in fully until the Wednesday. Carried them over to the following week when we had 4 d2d’s. So some houses ended up with 11 at once. Took over two weeks to get straight with them but I got there in the end. Crazy crazy.

Also we are not all full time! I have more d2d's to prep than nearly all the full time routes.

What allocated time.
As far as I know the allocated time is Monday.

OMG we still have people thinking or being told they are paid separately for D2D's. Unbelievable, a myth perpetuated by the manager types I would guess. How long ago is it now that we were actually paid for them (and it was constantly fiddled in favour of some )? 10 years at least, got to be.
