Absence Review Meeting after 17 days off with Covid

Post by blobneb »

Is 17 days considered excessive, when my doctor told me I was still symptomatic and advised the extra week of rest? Seems like the vast majority of people in my office who are exceeding 10 days off are getting hit with Absence Review meetings, surely this isn't right? I am tempted to submit an FOI request to find out whether the "vast majority" of absences are actually being ignored.

It’s not excessive and there is no set amount it takes to recover.
So just ignore there bullying tactics and follow your own instinct of knowing what’s best for you.
You also could tell them you are too unwell to attend face to face meeting but will remain in contact or just invite them to meet at your home.

As long as you remain in contact and do not refuse reasonable request to meetings , have fit notes to cover your absence ,you will be ok.

This is happening in our office, manager phones a girl with covid and tells her that's she's had her 10 day 'allowance'. She informed him she was still unwell.
Allowance my arse!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low life ***** they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
