There is no D2D plan in our office, but we have been told that we are no longer allowed to carry cold calls over to the next week.

I don’t understand the question, the latest agreement is they are all to go in Monday and they are warm called over the week.
You can’t warm call anything when it’s double slots in a frame , single slots you can.

i still cant get my head around this. how can anyone have time to put a full frame of D2Ds in on a monday. i prep 2 duties, both have over 1000 calls each. both double slots. 1 set of D2Ds means prepping in over 2000 D2DS before you even put a letter in the frame. we very regularly get 3 sets. we had 5 a few weeks back. that would mean throwing 10,000 D2Ds in before a letter is thrown in. its just NOT possible. i dont care how fast anyone is its just not possible. our office rule is mondays column plus one row on the end of the frame (7 wings per frame) then each column on the due day.

Our Monday hours are 6.30 to 14.10.
That is 7 hours.
Surely it wouldn't take you more than 7 hours to prep your D2D?

Mondays should have been made a longer day as part of the revision to give u time, still not enough time to do the d2d’s and the duty though.

And there is the rub.
There is enough time to do the D2D but maybe not enough time to do the D2D AND the delivery.
If the business wants all the D2D prepped on Monday then it might have to accept the delivery might not get completed.

I don't know how you lot work but I complete my indoor work and then I assess how much of my delivery I can complete in the available time.

Everyone does their D2Ds differently at our depot

There's rurals with barely 300 calls and most of those are either farms or houses with long drives, in which case all the D2Ds get thrown in on Monday and just deliver where you are going.

Then there are the nightmare urban routes which have over 1,000 calls, 2 or 3 to one slot. So whats the point in putting them all in? Also, it takes bl**dy ages to prep when there are 3 lots or more.

DSA no longer gets processed at weekends, so much less mail on Mondays in DOs so that's probably why they didn't make Mondays longer in DOs

What I don’t understand and perhaps someone could explain , is why are they constantly changing the way things are done , of which D2D’s are the latest example, if it seemed to be going okay and the items were delivered, why interfere. Is this someone with too much time on their hands , of which there are plenty in this job , if so there’s a prime example of where to cut jobs instead of it always being deliveries or MC’s.

They were not getting delivered before though so they came up with this idea and now even more than before are not getting delivered. I can understand the business wanting them in on a Monday but with these botched revisions your lucky if u can even get them in the frame come Monday with last weeks mail still in it.

I do the same, we have people who run around indoors. I could understand it in the days of job and knock but what’s the point these days. Take your time and do it properly.

They scrapped lapsing Monday to give us time to put them all in. That said, most still do it their own way. I tend to do it the old fashioned way and take a 6th per day, unless I finish early Saturday or only have the one then I put them all in Saturday or Monday morning. As long as you're doing them and not dumping loads in the office by the end of the week our managers don't care.
