Re: Refused Double Pay to Work Day Off
I have known the gaffer asking certain staff to come in and work when they are on annual leave. A little bonus for the postie to get in a bit of easy docket on their week off - when they should really get a day off credited back to them

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Feeling quite fortunate our revision was just start 4 days 15 mins later. Walks still too big but nowhere near the horror stories here. Only about 5-7 hrs over every week ATM.toonshola wrote: ↑07 Nov 2021, 13:23Quite scary how similar that sounds to my office which had its revision 6 weeks ago. Seems nearly all of Royal Mail is now like this and it makes you wonder just how long this can carry on surely it’s just going to damage the business long term.Manboat wrote: ↑07 Nov 2021, 12:25Same as this, the indoor bit is no longer straight forward and working out which loops your prioritising today while your partner is doing tracked/specials and which non tracked parcels that have been sat there days might you have time to do makes my head fart, especially when your dealing with a frame that’s still wrongly sequenced from a revision that’s been in 5 months and the duty is nowhere near doable, can’t even get half done, the 2 frames have never been clear together since the revision.toonshola wrote: ↑07 Nov 2021, 10:25A lot of us are feeling this way including myself. Treble time couldn’t get me in on my day off now. In the 12 years I’ve worked here I’ve barely taken a day off sick but I’m really considering getting signed off with stress very soon, just need a break from the hell this job has become.

Exactly. Can't believe people put money before their health. Richest person in the graveyard and all that. Work to live don't live to work but don't live beyond your means and be happy and healthy.aiden01 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2021, 19:42and being un-healthy exactly helps you pay what when your unable to work..2yearpostie wrote: ↑07 Nov 2021, 12:23
Being healthy dont pay the council tax, gas bill, electric bill, water bill, tv licence, broadband bill....

I wouldn’t be surprised if your wage slip showed flat rate if you did agree!

Re: Refused Double Pay to Work Day Off
I can't see there's any way it would show the double rate, so if the OP did agree to work 7 hours is pay slip would show 14 hours o/t worked?
I'd love to know how somebody gets this rate in my DO, assuming anybody does, as I've only ever been offered flat rate for o/t even when working my rest days.

I've maintained all along that the staff shortages are a deliberate policy which has effectively removed the six day USO by default .. nothing and nobody will convince me otherwise ..

I’m of the same thinking. 2022 is the year Saturday letter delivery is removed from the uso I would guess. Although I wouldn’t support it, it’s make sense when you look at the tiny amount of Mail that comes in on a Monday. You could easily add Saturdays to that and it wouldn’t really make the day any worse than the other busy days. Obviously all speculation but something is definitely up with these revisions and lack of recruitment.

Staff shortages must be deliberate as if the RM continued to employ sufficient posties by paying them a reasonable wage shortages, on the whole, wouldn't exist. When did you last go into Tesco etc only to be told you couldn't be served as they didn't have enough shelf fillers or till operators?
Not sure if it's a ploy about Saturday deliveries or just to increase the profits/share price.

Re: Refused Double Pay to Work Day Off
nail on head. its quite clear theyre trying to prove it can all be done in 5 days. it seems all offices are the same re not covering days off, staff shortages, the no mail Mondays that happened for a while etc etc.
Its all intentional.

+1 for me as well, it's certainly looking that way, but would a regulatory body accept the business intentionally reducing the manpower to an extent where it's physically unable to provide the service as expected ?

RE staff shortages.
If I remember right, there was a recruitment freeze a few years or so back, for whatever reason.
Also, all the screws were only allowed to recruit against silly nonworkable part time hrs as you are obviously aware.
Then they got rid if you remember 2000 managers which they admitted on Workplace that it was a mistake.
And all the time the business fell apart and the w*****s who made those decisions still got their premiership footballers wages and bonuses, and are still in a job.
What other firm would let that happen?
More corrupt than a tory gang bang.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Refused Double Pay to Work Day Off
Surly this happens everyday in RM, the going rate to work your day off in our office depending on which day is & how desperate they are is between 10 & 12 hours plus, 1.5 to 2 hour pay for a 35/40 minute loop, once again depending on how desperate they are, always get it signed up on the sheet before you leave the office.
Some posties do work their day off for normal hours
