Now I'm not one to keep doing things just to keep doing things when there are quicker alternatives.
For instance, we have the letter sorting machines and now the parcel ones. It is what it is, it's technology.
But then on the flip side, I would not want to try to implement or think of some crap that takes hours out of a delivery office just because I'm bored and I need to get out more.
Shooting the breeze on social media can sometimes be shooting the foot.
One example a while back which I at the time, could not be bothered to post was when 'gal' had an idea, what it would mean was the MC's doing a certain thing which would then not need to be done at the DO, as the convo went on and more ideas were added she realised that she had started a convo where hr's could potentially be taken out of DO's around the business.
For what it's worth it couldn't be done anyway so it was a waste of finger time.
Now today's bright spark, which to my knowledge couldn't be implemented either for perhaps obvious reasons, well I think there is a flaw in the plan anyway.

"I was wondering if we are any closer to being able to scan the barcode on the back of york, thus then confirming all tracked within that york as ‘ready for delivery’.
A colleague today asked me this question. As he said scanning all the tracked in was time consuming and a right pain in the………..
The amount of man hours wasted by scanning all the tracked in around the country must be massive.
I know some offices are scanning RFD at their fittings, but we were not confident with introducing this at *********."
"10 yorks come through the door all tracked. We’ve then got to get all those scanned RFD. So scanning out of one york into another.
When all that’s been done, we then have to sort them into the shrouds for the walks.
If we’re up to date and a late wagon comes in, we’re waiting for the tracked to be scanned before we can walk sort them.
Whereas if we just scan a barcode on the york and all the tracked within that york are confirmed RFD, there’s massive amounts of time saved. As we just crack on straight away walk sorting them. With no waiting for over 100 tracked items being scanned.
Plus all the mail for our sub offices comes to us. So then there’s a delay getting those sorted for the sub offices.
The staff scanning the tracked in can then be used to sort instead, thus speeding the sorting up. This gets the drivers out to the sub offices quicker and helps us get through sorting quicker.
To me it’s a no brainer and will save loads of time."

Obviously scanning a 'york' of stuff could bear no relation to what is actually in it, or if somehow tracked have been miss sorted but never mind.
There is a possibility soon btw of scan and prep where you scan your own traced at your frame.
