Tracked items .

Post by chickenwittle »

Really think Royal Mail should be educating customers on receiving their parcels. They get emails and texts telling them it’s coming yet they are not in .They don’t even bother to allocate a safe place or leave with neighbours, it’s not rocket science.I’m not going knocking on neighbours doors unless I know they are willing to take it .I don’t expect everyone to be in all the time but the amount I’m bringing back lately has got silly.

I won’t try a neighbour unless the customer has specifically picked one .

This really pi$$es me off too. Carting all these parcels about in bag, up all these stairs and they’re not in. Then to stand there and write a card out while trying to balance their f’ing parcel, your mail and the card, all while sweat is dripping off me.

Fair enough, can’t know exactly when the postie will turn up with parcel cause of RM’s excellent tracking service and can’t wait in all day for it but surely to f*** if they know they ain’t gonna be in then don’t get it delivered that day. Or get it sent to a neighbour? Although maybe actually check with the neighbour that it’s ok and they are actually gonna be in!!!

I don’t personally use RM for getting parcels delivered but is there not an option for it to be held at the delivery office for the customer to pick up rather than the postie carting it to the customers door first and then returning to the DO??

It's quite simple, people don't actually really want their parcels. Consumerism at its finest.

However there are those that want their parcel but have zero forward thought how it's going to get to them. Get it sent to work, pay for specific day delivery or like you say safeplace or neighbour notification.

Yes, for tracked items they can select an 'inflight' option and collect it from the CSP

Exactly, it seems the public are completely unaware or just plain stupid or just don’t give a s**t .They get email and text a day in advance and on the day of delivery, what’s so hard understand and don’t get me started on redelivery items where they are not in again , that’s just a piss take .

Soon they will get notifications in real time, some of them anyway...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Given people still open the door after you’ve delivered a customs charge and say ‘I’m in’ or leave their P739 on the side for days on end because ‘I haven’t had time to collect it’ even though it clearly says we redeliver for free I think it’s a mix of all 3.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

When you had to wait 28 working days for something to arrive it was a bit like waiting for Christmas. Now we bend over backwards to deliver stuff in less than 24 hours; and like having Christmas every day, the effect wears off... but there's nothing to do except go even faster so people can eke out a little more joy from ordering more stuff. In the final seconds before we hit the wall the acceleration will be immense :arrrghhh
The machine stops.

A lot of tracked items (and increasingly Special Deliveries) are patently not valuable and it`s just so time consuming. I feel sorry for a lot of neighbours of habitual absent order-ers, and I am moving towards just carding and bringing it back. They seemingly don`t give a s**t about us, so I hope they enjoy their trip to the caller`s office.

Last mile packet delivery is a scandalous waste of time, and frankly, the earth's finite fossil fuel resource when the item isn't successfully delivered

The government should tax the f**k out of delivery companys, to kick them up the arse and force them do something about it

Thing is, RM make it so easy for them to not give a sh*t.

"Let's go out!"

"But haven't we got a parcel coming with the postie?"

"That's okay, if we miss them I'll just go on my phone again and it get it redelivered. It's really cool actually, you can just keep doing it until they catch us in one day."
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

Do all customers definitely get notifications? No.

If the sender doesn't have an email address or mobile number for the customer, or doesn't input it correctly, then there's nowhere for RM to send that notification. I've sent stuff tracked without that info when selling online and it's not always possible. On those occasions I've put my own number and email in the required boxes and not received any notifications.

And with a delivery company as wildly erratic with their arrival times as RM then it's completely ridiculous to assume the customer should be in.

Delivering stuff is a pain in the arse. That's why many people and companies pay "Delivery" companies to deliver their stuff. It's a service and services are tailored towards the customer.
