What if the item fits through the letter box, how do you take a photo of that being delivered?

See below, that's what usually happens or they take a pic of the item half way through the letterbox then push it in.

I watched a DPD guy knock a door with a parcel this morning....the customer was in, opened the door and took the parcel from him. But after the door was shut and he was walking away he turned round and took a photo of the house.

Parcel Force have been taking pictures for a couple of months now. Its quicker than getting a signature to be honest. REX routing system is still crap.

Is this just for items requiring signature, or are they looking to roll it out for tracked also?

Royal Mail has secured new business from a leading fashion brand and has given this customer a
commitment that the capability to capture a photographic image at the doorstep will be deployed
pre-Peak on the Tracked 24 & 48 product. This capability is expected to go live from the 4th
November 2021 enabled on our new PDAs.

The process to capture a photo on delivery will be event driven on the PDA as with the Safeplace
image capture process. The PDA will have new screens built to guide Delivery colleagues through
the process when a photo is required, and will be completed with the door open If there are multiple
parcels for delivery, only one photo of all parcels is required.

Great idea gives RM and the postie more leverage against the "we did not receive it brigade"
More work in less hours = more overtime for the docket crew or cutting off even more for the work to their timers.

It is acknowledged that on occasions OPG’s may get challenged by customers on taking a photo.
Where that is the case, the OPG’s are to politely advise the customer that they are requested to take
a photo as proof of delivery, but where the customer refuses items will be returned to sender.

It is jointly recognised, that there could be instances where a customer may object or refuse to allow
the OPG to take a photo. It is also recognised that with SOP’s adjusted due to current social
distancing arrangements the OPG may not be able to retain the parcel. Should this arise then under
no circumstances should the OPG become involved in a confrontation with the customer. The OPG
should however report the incident to their DOM/Manager on return to the office. The OPG will not
be held responsible for the customer behaviour in such circumstances.

Since about 5 years ago, we've been told that the customer is the sender and not the recipient.

When did this change...?

Makes me laugh this, surely the customer is the one whose paying the money ?

At least we don't have to selfie capture - where you, the customer and the parcel need to be in the same shot with smiling assassin faces. Some poor sods delivering for certain couriers have to do this.

What about the customers who are not in but have allowed me to leave their parcel over the gate?

Either the product will also have a safe place option (in which case you follow the procedure of guaranteeing the place is safe and take a picture) or it won't (In which case you are putting your job on the line for a Boohoo parcel)
