Photo Capture on Delivery

We have listened to our customers and are pleased to advise that we are introducing a new Service called Photo Capture on Delivery that allows us to provide sending customers photographic evidence that their item(s) are delivered.

Our account customers have told us that they want a Photo Capture on Delivery service to reduce “denial of receipt” complaints. Lots of our Competitors already offer this service and so in order to retain traffic and win new business, our customers want us to provide this capability too.

There will be an upgrade delivered to your PDA which will instruct you through this new simple process. This service will initially only be used for some items sent by Boohoo but the service will be expanding over the comings months to other customers.

We have worked with the National CWU, and agreed a Joint Statement. More details will be provided in next week’s Work Time Listening & Learnings session.

Only 18 months late huh :Applause

Annoying that it'll take longer to deliver parcels.

Amazon offer a reference number service where all the receiver needs to do is give the code to the driver to get the parcel. Much better idea than this photo idea as a code is secured delivery to whoever has the unique code. RM always a step behind.

(Edit)
Cleaned up sentences.

I don't have too much of an issue with this. Yes it might slow us down a bit, but no more than signed for items would.

Currently, if a recipient decides to Deny they recieved a signed for item using the XP1 procedure. All we have to back us up is the GPS of the scan.

I've been in situations where the recipient has clearly been trying it on.

They're certainly already starting to slow down, there's a noticeable long delay when trying to take a photo of a parcel in a safeplace.

Does Work Time Learning" still exist, then? I've been back at Royal Mail for four months and we haven't had a single WTL session in this time. On most days I have zero interaction with management - the few changes in procedure that have taken place since my arrival have been brought to my attention through word of mouth from my colleagues. Even when we're expected to absorb, this instruction has NEVER been given to me by a manager.

Amazon/Hermes take pictures of parcels they've dumped on my doorstep when I'm out(which have gone, since well, they ignore my box to help hide the visual! urgh).... how's this any more proof than "item delivered" I really don't know.

I watched a DPD guy knock a door with a parcel this morning....the customer was in, opened the door and took the parcel from him. But after the door was shut and he was walking away he turned round and took a photo of the house.

What if the item fits through the letter box, how do you take a photo of that being delivered?

Could well be the server not handling the increased volume of data too well

It is acknowledged that on occasions OPG’s may get challenged by customers on taking a photo.
Where that is the case, the OPG’s are to politely advise the customer that they are requested to take
a photo as proof of delivery, but where the customer refuses items will be returned to sender.

It is jointly recognised, that there could be instances where a customer may object or refuse to allow
the OPG to take a photo. It is also recognised that with SOP’s adjusted due to current social
distancing arrangements the OPG may not be able to retain the parcel. Should this arise then under
no circumstances should the OPG become involved in a confrontation with the customer. The OPG
should however report the incident to their DOM/Manager on return to the office. The OPG will not
be held responsible for the customer behaviour in such circumstances.
