100%never posted it through door cos had it 2 hours later towards end of delivery. Have a hole in bottom of bag so could have fallen out on way back to office. Went back out and checked for a good 20 minutes. No joy. Managers all finished so been told to report it on monday. It was the only thing i had to return.
Yea, happened to me b4 as well, think i dropped it! i put a wait docket thro the door and customer came in . Managers told but nout ever came of it.Id say if you do it a lot you may get in trouble. So long as you are honest with them and tell them on monday.
It will largely depend on the manager and what your record is like. If the worst comes to the worst you would get a warning. Make sure you have a witness when you tell them the bad news and it would stand you in good stead if you wrote a report as to where it was for, what type of letter/packet it was, what you did on discovery of loss and hand that in keeping a copy. Somebody may have found it and if it is in a reasonable area they may have popped it back in the letter box and it may come through again.
Don't worry too much there isn't anything you could have done that you didn't do. If there is a shortage of pouches at your DO then using one with a hole in may well be a mitigating circumstance.
somthing similar yesturday, had 2 recordeds and half way thru my round i fort im sure i had 2 recordeds like u do, well u see i bundle them up with the normal letters i got one signed for, then i pursume i posted the other one, i fink totall by accident i may add!
your fate totally depends on your dom ....... if he wants to take it further he can and probably will if he is pretty cool perhaps just a few words in your ear will sort it

I have got 2 pouches with holes in the bottom of the Recorded/Special compartment.
It appears to be that the standard of manufacture of pouches has deteriorated recently and incidents like this are going to increase and will probably lead to more warnings being given out.
It is time we let the screws know we are not happy with the crap standard of the new pouches.

claiming all overtime if its heavy. Managers are actually seem pretty fair. I just thought there may be a
standard procedure in this case (a policy that can be fairly applied to all). Royal mail is a pretty big
organisation ya know
I lost a recorded last year, told the manager asap, was completely straight with him and he was sorted and told me to see what happened. Thought I lost a reggie once, again told the manager and well let just say he happy about that until its was reveals that I dekivered and it was signed for but I thought It was a recorded from abroad, the look of disappointment from his face, priceless.
But if your straight about something and it was a mistake, 9 times out of 10 you be ok

Would it not be sensible to not have to rely on the screws to "organise" good condition pouches for you & instead have them as part of your uniform? - then you could call up and order on when needed. Surely you wear the pouch just as much as the strides, shirt or jacket, and as it has the hi-vis strip, it could be classed as part of your PPE?
