Royal Mail chief defends 'pathetic' post office

A SENIOR Royal Mail official has defended a controversial new post office in Linlithgow after it was criticised by a leading MP.
Royal Mail's area service manager, Andy Bayfield, said that the premises in the town's Regent Centre offered a suitable service and dismissed claims that it was failing customers.

The move comes after local MP Michael Connarty branded the service, which was transferred to an RS McColl's store in September, as "pathetic". Mr Connarty also claimed that there was poor accessibility and customers faced unacceptable waiting times.

Customers have also made countless complaints about the service since RS McColl took over the franchise from its former stand alone premises in the High Street. But Mr Bayfield said: "I do not think it is fair to say that we have only done the minimum.

"The new location offers improved car parking and level access. I have also 'mystery shopped' the new site and have received customer service standards comparable with that which the previous branch offered."

typical careerist politican , a lot of noise , can't be that much of a rebel otherwise he'd be the bitter old jobbing MP , permantly banished to the back benches. It's like Paul Weller said when he was involved with Red Wedge , I've seen some egos in Showbiz , but politics is something else again .
