Absolutely, I've had similar issues with the PDA's accuracy. I was saying RM considers it proof of delivery. Trust would be when I say I delivered it to the address and the PDA is acknowledged to be inaccurate because it claims I scanned it while standing in solid rock on a different street.chickenwittle wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 10:33Sorry but this isn’t true . I’ve proved to my manager on numerous occasions that the gps on our pda are not pinpoint accurate .I’ve had a couple of complaints where customer has denied receipt only for me to knock back and be told sorry my husband received it but didn’t tell me . In the meantime my manager said pda shows me delivering the item in the next street , this is clearly wrong . I’ve told him never to use gps as any kind of proof as it isn’t reliable.Mr Rush wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 19:31It must be trust between employer and employee, but then the whole statement is around proof of delivery. That's not the definition of trust.
The unwritten words in the statement are that all these complaints are fraudulent and would be thrown out if we all scanned at the door and not on the property line or in the street nearby. Still not trust.
The machine stops.

The thing with 2Ds though, is that more and more are coming with email delivery confirmation. If someone gets an email before you've left the office, you could see where some complaints come from. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of tracked vs 2D or other parcels and the percentage of DoR complaints for each....actually I'm not that bothered.
In my office there are many standard and recorded parcels that are left in Yorks or on frames for the next day when duties have been lapsed. Have those parcels been appropriately scanned in the delivery office as "Not delivered"??
Or is trust best kept between me and my manager?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Well as they don't need a scan until you reach the doorstep, surely this would just incur more time...postslippete wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 22:28ssdd wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 16:11

A couple of years ago I had a manager ask why I’d delivered a tracked parcel 2 miles away from its address, for a street which isn’t even covered by our DO! I wasn’t the driver that day and assured her there’s no way I could’ve walked 2 miles there, and 2 miles back as part of my loop.
The GPS is very unpredictable. Again I’m left wondering how accurate the likes of Amazon, Hermes, DPD etc are. Have we gone for the fisher price version?

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

They talk about trust ,yet you are always guilty until you prove your own innocence, the customer is always believed.I have proved my innocence in numerous occasions, I feel sorry for the ones that just accept what the managers say .HTPostman wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 06:20A couple of years ago I had a manager ask why I’d delivered a tracked parcel 2 miles away from its address, for a street which isn’t even covered by our DO! Correct, but I think the point is they're failing the USO and so should be scanned as delivery not attempted but thisssdd wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 00:12Well as they don't need a scan until you reach the doorstep, surely this would just incur more time...postslippete wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 22:28ssdd wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 16:11

would possibly highlight a failing office which might not actually be being reported as failing......

I understand that yellow. Saying you even did that, what about the letters then, they don't even require any scan...or are they not important anymore?yellowbelly wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 19:09Correct, but I think the point is they're failing the USO and so should be scanned as delivery not attempted but thisssdd wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 00:12Well as they don't need a scan until you reach the doorstep, surely this would just incur more time...postslippete wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 22:28ssdd wrote: ↑06 Oct 2021, 16:11

Still plenty of recorded letters coming through the system as well. They might not all be 1st class but customers are paying for a service that we are not delivering.

impossible to scan at the doorstep when the stupid PDA isn't registering your inputs so you lock and unlock the bloody thing until it finally registers your click on 'confirm delivery' by that time you've either wasted a few minutes or are now headed to the next delivery point

You're absolutely right. Also more 2D flats. Anyway, I think we've went off topic a little. This was about denial of receipt, that's turned into USO failure. I agree the customer should be getting what they pay for.postslippete wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 22:22

I often wonder about this too. I use RON a lot when doing LATs and it often pinpoints an address at a location that is sometimes maybe 60-80 metres or more away from the actual location and I’m thinking “How can it be accurate to 3 metres on a scan but this far off in navigation?”HTPostman wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 06:20A couple of years ago I had a manager ask why I’d delivered a tracked parcel 2 miles away from its address, for a street which isn’t even covered by our DO! Trust? TRUST!!! Like when mail which is paid for and posted trusting us to deliver and fulfilling our contract with them, only to be left in the frame for a couple of days or more....... because it's not tracked. Don't preach to me about TRUST mate!

Field Service Manager at Royal Mail Group
When are we going to get the doorstep scan rate up, especially for large letters? I’m getting more complaints from business customers that the RM24/48 barcoded service is not getting scanned, and many are under pressure from Amazon who are demanding a 95% doorstep scan rate.
Why aren’t the frontline staff being told to scan, and if they are, why aren’t they being taken to task when they don’t? If they don’t scan, we also can’t challenge the recipient when they claim non delivery.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
