The "Done" is now upside down.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Can an update be made available so these poxy things work in the wet. Got soaked yesterday. Went well over my time, partly due to pda that is crap in the wet.
I imagine the sensitivity and recognition is hard coded to the device and won't be able to be changed by our IT department. This is lightly done in the original factory of production. This is however my presumption based on my own knowledge and no real source to back it up.

They could however (i suspect) utilise the tactile buttons to allow scan and delivery confirmed without the touchscreen.

See my post above about lack of research and feedback.

I believe there are settings to change the touch sensitivity. See here: https://techdocs.zebra.com/mx/touchmgr/
This isn't accessible to us. The thing is if they start changing it, then you may have others complaining it's too sensitive...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Would it be possible to allow limited access to certain settings such as touch sensitivity, auto-brightness on/off, or swipe screen on/off? I guessing what the answer will be, but if you don't ask...

Almost certainly the answer will be no, as them settings are likely part of Android and not the RM software

The old PDAs were actually better.

Takes about ten swipes to unlock the bloody things.

And they don't work in rain.

And the elastic cords that tie the styluses to the device seems to be flimsy.

I don't know why it should matter if it's part of the Android system or not. The screen rotation would be part of the Android system I believe. It's not like we're looking to hack the system, just to give a bit more personal configuration, and to suit different conditions.

It's probably not possible to unlock just specific settings

I think it is possible. Why is Raj able to adjust the screen auto-rotate? It's more whether he'd be allowed to do this or not.

Anyway, I don't like the sound of the beep. Could we change it to the noise of a lightsaber? In fact there's another idea. Custom scan noises!

From the looks at it, thanks to link you provided SSDD, the MX operating system is independent of Android, but is limited to Android's functionality, which is good enough for us anyway. It's the MX customisation that is poorly implemented onto Android i think is the issue.

The evidence of low quality development work is there in the link. The MX OS is only just implementing features that were used pre Android 5.1, such as battery saving turning on at X level.

I gave up reading the features available, but i did see some that were useable to us but not available.

They should allow customisable options to be used, but upon device restart they default. That's simple few line of code i imagine. But unfortunately this kind of feedback will never make it to the IT team, let alone Zebra.

Do let Simon know about that one. Each scan gives a random sound, this encourages posties to scan all their items.
See you now ssdd have the vision and ideas to bring RM into the future. Here's a £500,000 bonus for your genius idea.
Don't forget your fellow posties when you're sat around with the board of directors discussing other 21st century ideas.

Indeed WASD. I think the idea has legs. In fact I've already penned a little outline statement to help sell the idea:
"We're pivoting to novel forms of data capture that focus more on both employee and customer engagement"
Now we just need Team to catch the vision, get onboard with it, sanction a pass and bring this baby to birth! I'll punch a puppy if I have to!
