People App

The current plan is for us to have annual adhoc leave booking available via the app by the end of October'21.

Tackling the annual pick process requires very Royal Mail specific issues relating to things like local practice, seniority etc.

But the capability to book leave outside of the annual pick should be deployed by the end of next month Adam Walden, should be able to provide further information if needed.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Managers are going to hate it but i'm fed up of requesting time off and waiting days to be told sorry no. This isn't going to solve the leave problems but at least it's a start.

I imagine the catch will be the ability to book odd days only where there are spaces available within your office, which, after the main pick has happened, tend to be very limited.

It would be nice if I am wrong and this signals a change of approach where you can actually book odd days annual leave when required.

The catch i'd say is probably coming for management.

It's not going to be too much longer before most Doms aren't really required.

There's not many large businesses that still operate with as many Managers as Royal Mail do.

I can top that.

I waited over a month to get a day off, it got authorised, the week then came around that i had the day off booked on, i then realised that it wasn't even allocated on the rota.

I never mentioned it because i no longer needed it off. I'll save that day with the rest they owe me.

The catch is you need the app. I don't want it so that means I become excluded because I don't have the app. Obviously a fairer system.

If it's anything like the one I use in new job it'll still require your managers approval so don't expect royal fail managers to change much...lo

People grabbing all the slots and the ones who either don’t do technology or don’t read/listen to any news RM put out kicking off when they can’t get days off.

At least it will make a more even playing field whereby those of us that aren’t particularly confident or keen on having to go via the DOM whenever we need to book days off can now do it at home.

Maybe it will mean that some of the quieter guys get a chance to book up some of those empty Saturdays rather than the ones who are in the office every other day.
