All businesses need management. The problem with Royal Mail is that there are too many, or rather, too many ineffective and unproductive managers.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

They should have always stuck with managers all being ex-posties. Ok they might still be crap but at least they'd understand how everything workspostslippete wrote: ↑27 Sep 2021, 22:15All businesses need management. 2.9% Pay Offer to Unite/CMA for Junior and Middle Managers
All grades in Royal Mail Group and Parcelforce
2.9% basic pay increase from 1 September 2021 (backdated) with flow through for all overtime, allowances and regional pay (London and defined area elements of salary will increase by 2.9% for all eligible managers on incremental grades).

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Should not be made up in there own office , this is how you get problems with FavouritismSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 06:53They should have always stuck with managers all being ex-posties. They should get a pay decrease because they always leave early.POSTMAN wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 10:402.9% Pay Offer to Unite/CMA for Junior and Middle Managers

Or at least a different shift in a MC, RDC or MDEC (there can't be many DOs now that have a night shift)wallan wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 10:52Should not be made up in there own office , this is how you get problems with FavouritismSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 06:53They should have always stuck with managers all being ex-posties. Totally agree. I must admit several of our Ex-Posties have been moved onto the Reserve Managers System (I believe that's what's meant to happen). The Forces have always moved someone to another unit when they've been promoted. As you mention it prevents Favouritism, on the flip side it also prevents previous colleagues from taking advantage, perhaps due to knowledge of previous events & behaviour.wallan wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 10:52Any Potential Managers should certainly have some experience of the job they're expected to Manage. I don't neccessarily think that they should all be Ex-Posties. We've certainly got some idiots that I'd NEVER want to put in ANY Managerial Postion. Sometimes our colleagues fall well below the level of competance required for their own job ... let alone management.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 06:53I don't believe they receive the correct training. It's just the luck of the draw wether they have an organised & pro-active mind. Too many just aren't experienced enough with managerial problems, and the Bad Ones are NEVER weeded out!postslippete wrote: ↑27 Sep 2021, 22:15All businesses need management. Should not be made up in there own office , this is how you get problems with Favouritism
