Re: Auto rotate or auto IRRITATE
Hi everyone
Having trailed the screen rotation fix at Skipton and Plymouth North DO, we are now able to deploy this fix out nationally.
There are two stages involved for the fix to be implemented to your PDA. The first is to deploy the fix to the PDA this will happen on day 1 and the second is to activate the fix on the PDA this will happen on day two.
To ensure the best possible chance of getting the new fix on your PDA best practice would be that the PDA is docked in the charger, we will be deploying to about 8000 PDAs every night all PDAs will have the fix installed by the 30th September.See schedule for your area.
We will be monitoring the deployment of this fix, however if you do experiences and issues with your PDA please in the first instance report this to the IT help desk
I know this issue has caused much frustration and thank you for your patience.

Had the new update, fixed the PITA auto rotation when you first login, BUT now it doesn't rotate like it used to when you require a signature and present the PDA to the customer, it remains the right way up with signature box not upside down as it used to be but the grey 'Done' bit at the bottom of the screen is upside down, no big deal really but looks like it's been rolled out on the hurry up and not tested properly

Oh good, hope they'll also consider removing the requirement to swipe up after pressing the top button, no idea why they had to trial it though

I'm guessing they always get the brown-nosed yes-men to trial these things, or they don't listen to the feedback
We waste so much time on stupid things like this or the mech coming in either not sequenced or every other letter upside-down, simple things to fix but no one listens and the inefficiency continues, oh well

If a letter enters a iLSM or IMP upside down and gets its orange barcode then it has to stay upside down from then on. IMPs and iLSMs can handle it being put back right way up but a CSS will reject itsorefeet17 wrote: ↑27 Sep 2021, 17:24I'm guessing they always get the brown-nosed yes-men to trial these things, or they don't listen to the feedback![]()

It tends to be letters all from the same sender (ex British Gas), so is it that they are fed in the wrong way by someone who couldn't be arsed or is it more complex?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Sep 2021, 19:39If a letter enters a iLSM or IMP upside down and gets its orange barcode then it has to stay upside down from then on. They're probably DSA items so it could possibly be that they're being fed in upside down or it's also possible that they arrive in the trays with some upside downsorefeet17 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 17:19It tends to be letters all from the same sender (ex British Gas), so is it that they are fed in the wrong way by someone who couldn't be arsed or is it more complex?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Sep 2021, 19:39If a letter enters a iLSM or IMP upside down and gets its orange barcode then it has to stay upside down from then on. Re: Auto rotate or auto IRRITATE : Update-Fixed
Why are you asking a customer to sign and touch your PDA, we haven't been doing that since the pandemic started, just sign it "XP1" yourself like they rest of us have been doing.theargyspy wrote: ↑25 Sep 2021, 10:19Had the new update, fixed the PITA auto rotation when you first login, BUT now it doesn't rotate like it used to when you require a signature and present the PDA to the customer, it remains the right way up with signature box not upside down as it used to be but the grey 'Done' bit at the bottom of the screen is upside down, no big deal really but looks like it's been rolled out on the hurry up and not tested properly![]()

Re: Auto rotate or auto IRRITATE : Update-Fixed
I guess I didn't explain myself very well, it comes from trying to post on the forum whilst on delivery, I was trying to explain what the new problem is with the PDA after the auto-rotate update. With the way it shows itself. Let me put it another way...I scan a signed for item on the PDA, put in the customers name and I then have a signature box, before the update the signature box would then be upside down ready to present the PDA to the customer for their signature, now, post update the signature box etc is still facing me with the "Done" gray bit at the bottom of the screen upside downTopperGas wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 20:39Why are you asking a customer to sign and touch your PDA, we haven't been doing that since the pandemic started, just sign it "XP1" yourself like they rest of us have been doing.theargyspy wrote: ↑25 Sep 2021, 10:19Had the new update, fixed the PITA auto rotation when you first login, BUT now it doesn't rotate like it used to when you require a signature and present the PDA to the customer, it remains the right way up with signature box not upside down as it used to be but the grey 'Done' bit at the bottom of the screen is upside down, no big deal really but looks like it's been rolled out on the hurry up and not tested properly![]()

Agree. The word "DONE" is upside down in relation to the other details.theargyspy wrote: ↑29 Sep 2021, 18:17I guess I didn't explain myself very well, it comes from trying to post on the forum whilst on delivery, I was trying to explain what the new problem is with the PDA after the auto-rotate update. Aren't all our competitors now taking photos of the item either in the recipients hand or identifiable doorstep shot?ssdd wrote: ↑29 Sep 2021, 18:23Agree. Can't see us going back to signatures now. What's the point of having a PDA with a (allegedly) fantastic camera
if it's not going to be used?

Re: Auto rotate or auto IRRITATE : Update-Fixed
Is it me or are the new PDAs harder to “wake” from standby? After pressing the top right button, it sometimes takes me several swipes to wake it. I often have to put it BACK into standby, then trying again. I’m sure the older PDAs were easier to wake
