It has got to be Mr Canoe from Seaton Carew. Never, ever did a man snatch such a defeat from the jaws of victory. He was home and dry(ish) then he came back from Panama and blew the lot.

Bali UN Conference on Climate change

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

I think in future years the Bali UN Conference on Climate change will be seen as a definitive point. The outcome is mixed with now only the USA out of the Industrialised nations not signing the Kyoto Protocol.

Unfortunately the USA and Canada kept up their track record of watering down any agreements:

Emission cuts of greenhouse gases by 25 to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 were written into early drafts of what is referred to as the Bali "roadmap", but they had to be stripped out at the insistence of the delegation from the US, as well as a handful of other nations.

Also absent from the final document was the suggestion of the joint Nobel prize-winning UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to limit any rise in global temperatures to 2 degrees Celsius compared to 1900 levels, and to keep heat-trapping gases below 445 parts per million.

I think this shows that in the USA that big business is controlling the agenda and anything that threatens profits is immediately condemned. However, if they don't start making moves on climate change soon the whole world including them might soon start suffering the consequences.

My opinion is that Climate Warming caused by man has not been proved but surely its better to cut down emissions and pollution rather than let it keep increasing. If it is ever proved by facts I think it will too late.

In his previous incarnation as SNP leader wasn't Alex Salmond a right wing nationalist who crawled up the arses of Scottish business? Just goes to show how far to the right those other sons of Scotland Bliar and Broon have taken Nu Labore. As someone who is part Scottish I am ashamed at the behaviour of these traitors.
