I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Raise it with your union rep or area rep, it is an unofficial perk and also rewards those 'favourites' who are already earning more via overtime, often unfairly gifted it ahead of others all the time. Unless it's in a Waysider agreement the van could be classed as stolen.mjd24 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2021, 17:43There seems to be at least 2 guys in my DO who are allowed to take their vans home everyday.
Both of these guys live at least 10 miles from the DO.
Its been happening for a while now and means they're getting free travel costs to work and not having to pay the daily £3 cost of parking in the multistorey - saving them HUNDREDS of pounds a year.
The only reason i can see that they are being allowed to do this is that they both do regular overtime, and taking the vans home is some sort of reward for this.
It sickens me to be honest, and is yet another on the long list of awful management practices in my DO.
Who can i email about this to try and get this to stop?
Some of the replies on here to this would indicate to me that this board has been infiltrated recently by managers, clearly supporting an extra 'practice' that enables them to clear the office despite being understaffed

Ive since discovered that one of the guys not only takes the van home but also doesnt even return his pda, 739’s and collections to the office each day. Instead he finds his mate out on his delivery and gives them to him, then drives straight home (10 miles away).

A lad in my office works his day off every week and lives 15 miles away from the office. 180 miles a week and paying no diesel cost. That's why this company is on its arse!!

Raise it through 'speak up', misuse of company funds is against our code of business standards

Actually, yeah, you have a good point there. Lol.PostmanBitesDog wrote: ↑19 Sep 2021, 22:28I'd be surprised if any car thieves would steal a Royal Mail van.rambo1 wrote: ↑16 Sep 2021, 20:26Also what if the van gets stolen off your driveway? Would you really want that bother?Marshamp11 wrote: ↑16 Sep 2021, 18:53Wouldn't take one home even if was offered. I wouldn't want to be in a position where I may feel I owe the company something. I will pay for my own way to work and back thank you.
They'd be walking past the parked van at night, stop and take a look at it, then say, "Naah, what a piece of junk. We'd be crazy to steal that pile of trash. LOL!"
