Ooh niiiice!

My fave of the tiny desk concerts Dave Rawlings Machine with Gillian Welch. Dave is an utter BEAST on the guitar. Gobsmacking cover of Neil Young and Crazy Horse's Cortez The Killer in there.

I haven't yet compiled a list of my all time favourite music (don't know if I ever will), but if I did, this would be on it. A timeless piece, with solo acoustic guitar played fingerstyle.

Lovely, reminds me of a cross between James Taylor and Bob Mould in tone.

Speaking of uncle Bob here's a cover of an early solo track by Ryan Adams.

Sad news in the experimental/electro/industrial music world. Actually, sad for the whole musical world. :cry

Richard Harold Kirk, one of the founding members of influential post-punk outfit Cabaret Voltaire passed away at the age of 65.

Kirk, along with Cabs members Chris Watson and Stephen Mallinder, were a huge inspiration to me. The trio formed in Sheffield, South Yorkshire in the early 1970s and would support Joy Division for some of their gigs.

Chris Watson left Cabaret Voltaire in 1978 to work for Tyne Tees Television (and would later form a new band called The Hafler Trio), while keyboardist and guitarist Richard H. Kirk and vocalist and bassist Stephen Mallinder carried the Cabaret Voltaire banner as a duo.

It was this duo of Kirk and Mallinder that the Cabs really took off. Albums like The Crackdown, Micro-Phonies, and The Covenant, The Sword and the Arm of the Lord became underground hits.

I've always been such a huge fan of the Cabs.

Rest in peace, Richard H. Kirk (21 March 1956 – 21 September 2021). :cry

Too busy listening to AC/DC in the early 80s so never checked out Cabaret Voltaire, probably confused them with the Cocteau Twins too.
Reminds me of Art of Noise meets Vince Clarke meets Herbie Hancock.

Any road up, here's a chirpy little number from Swans.
