Drivers packet or not ?

So we had our revision,
One of the problems is when putting packets out for the driver,
They are simply returning the items back to the fitting frames because ( apparently ) your not supposed to be
Matching up 3 or 4 packets to make a large enough one for the driver, is this correct ?
Any feedback would be appreciated .

dont see a problem as long as he hasnt already scanned his route which is unlikely due to a later start but who knows every office seems to run differently

This is like the eternal question of what is the meaning of life? When is it a drivers parcel?

I believe there is a template frame that fits into the drop bag fitting and if parcel fits through the hole its a walking persons parcel. I dont know the dimensions though.

In our office we go with the rough guide of anything above and including a shoe box size is a drivers parcel. So if 3/4 parcels bundled together are shoe box size then its a drivers.

Some walking people or drivers can be fussy , then it comes down to manager to make the decision.

You should see the large packet yorks that inward MCs get, some yorks are nearly all small. Some of the sleeves have loads of large and often in both normal parcel and Tracked work areas you'll often get loads of Tracked and non-Tracked mixed together with the occasional SD thrown in.

Bags aren't used much in MCs any more. Mainly for stuff going via Skynet, stuff going abroad and in SD lockers to offices which haven't got much

I'm assuming it's the parcels for an hct duty we're talking about, we've got a really simple method it's if you can fit it in the hct you do it, if not then you don't because you can't.

Ah the OP mentioned putting packets out for the driver and having the ones that the driver considers to be too small returned, so giving the parcels to someone else to deliver I assumed it was an hct duty.

On a van share we no longer deliver our own oversize parcels.
Oversize parcels are segregated according to a template.
We cannot band parcels together to make them oversize.

I believe that a lot who've been with RM a very long time were taught that if a parcel can be squeezed into a DBF and the bag tied then it's not oversize/large

Give it a year or two and they'll be wanting all the multiple small packets for one house to keep their delivery rate up.

Is it a structural revision or just a table top? Our DO is having a structural and we are told the large packets for those duties will be segregated at the MC and not down till 11.
So if you have a packet duty you're hours are 11-6.
I just presumed this would be a national thing and there was a sort of template to follow.

Good luck getting the large and small properly segged. The mixing of large and small has been raised so many times that no one cares anymore. If a load of small come through on the yorks of large they generally get sent out on the yorks of large to the DOs
