It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Well.. DPD have a huge market share as their prices are half that of PF and they send little boxes, phones..etc. I was chatting to a DPD driver one morning as his van looked empty, he said he still had 100 jobs in there to do, the van was virtually empty. You cannot get the market share back unless you scrap these 30KG or bulky jobs as it fills the vans up quickly. Some drivers can only fit 60 or 70 jobs in their vans. DPD vans are all brand spankers as well, no more than 3 years old. Why are we still driving rusty old vans falling apart that are 10 years old with almost a quarter million miles on the clock? Why?

And there's Simon in the video talking about removing smaller items that can be delivered by RM! I wonder if that means RM will be removing some of the bigger items that can be delivered by PF? You know, like how it used to be?! We've being getting much bigger and heavier parcels at RM post-covid.
I really don't know what the plan is in this regard. Maybe someone else does...

I noticed Simon apologised again. Fair enough. You could be cynical in thinking this is a contrived measure in order to 'win the trust' of employees, but for now I'm taking it at face value and I live in hope that he is genuinely interested in listening to the 'foot-soldiers', as you said in another thread.

RMG is a big ship to steer! DPD is a much nimbler company. I wouldn't know where to start, and it would take too long to discuss the whys and wherefores of this. Maybe a good point for another discussion, or if you or someone else wants to chip in with their thoughts...

Regarding the fleet, I totally agree. Along with a well presented uniform, it's what helps make any company stand out I reckon. First impressions and all that...

Respect to you and all the other folks at PF. Hope this new guy is going to be good for you.

The Tracked items have been getting bigger and heavier for a few years now, just that Covid has caused them to surge in numbers. I can't see the smaller PF items being moved to RM as with PF every parcel gets scanned at every depot it passes through, scanned when delivered, do they get a ready for delivery scan? If they were to move them over to RM then unless the sender used Tracked or SDs then the items wouldn't be tracked throughout the system

Less than 2 hours to go until the first Managerial Event since I joined the PFW family.
I can't wait to get started and listen to what the team have to say about Managerial Trust. Aiming to get an action plan that we all believe in out of the event 🤝

Managerial Trust Action Plan, we have lift off! 🚀

What an uplifting event with the PFW Managers focusing on updating our Managerial Trust Action Plan. I hope that those that attended agree.

Here's a summary of the outputs...our Managerial Trust Action Plan:

Managerial workload: we’ll review the things that are preventing you from performing at your best.

Managerial development: our job is to help you to fulfil your potential. We commit to providing the pathways to unlock this.

Tools for the job: setting you up to succeed, ensuring PFW are a priority in Group decision making.

Communication: regular, timely communication including Parcelforce getting a voice in Group Comms, the Parcelforce Workplace page being the go to place for answers to your questions and Senior Leaders being visible in the field to engage with, support and listen to you and your teams.

Reward and recognition: celebrating success, not missing these opportunities to say thank you and appreciate people’s contributions.

DCMs, Section Managers, plans are in progress to replicate the event with you, for you 👌
